    David Weiss

So as Delaware US Attorney, David Weiss slow roles his Biden investigation and comes up with a plea deal that looks like it was written by the defense team. When that gets tossed out, the Attorney General appoints him as the independent Special Counsel for the case. Isn’t that a bit smelly?

Yes it is. I was under the impression that Special Counsel status inferred independence from DOJ influence, yet that is clearly not the case here. The Code of Federal Regulations (Title 28, Section 600.3 for those who may want to fact check) even requires those appointed Special Counsel status come from outside government.

It occurs to me that improperly appointing a special counsel, and one who has already signed off on a failed plea deal designed to slap someone on the wrist for a few offenses while simultaneously absolving him from prosecution for any future charges, is a political ploy designed to prolong a true resolution several years down the road when it can do the least damage.

    This has all happened before:

in Publium Clodium Pompeiae uxoris suae adulterum atque eadem de causa pollutarum caerimoniarum reum testis citatus negauit se quicquam comperisse, quamuis et mater Aurelia et soror Iulia apud eosdem iudices omnia ex fide rettulissent; interrogatusque, cur igitur repudiasset uxorem: 'quoniam,' inquit, 'meos tam suspicione quam crimine iudico carere oportere.' -Suetonius's Life of Julius Caesar, §74, 2

Actually, Caesar was saying just the opposite.

But we all know what happened to him for speaking up.

I looked up the translation and this is the “Caesars wife must be beyond reproach” quote.

    Yes, that would be nice.

Yep, upon the recommendation of his two home state senators, Chris Coons and Tom Harper, both Democrats.

Weird that now people think he’s doing biden’s bidding.

I don't think he's doing Biden's bidding, it's more like being a team player and doing a politicized DOJ's bidding.

It seems odd to me how there media really hasn't discussed the charges and what a comparable punishment would be for the every day citizen. It's probably in there somewhere that I've not seen, or maybe there's not a good answer for that. And my recent history is already failing my memory a bit, but was the Trump era a heyday for GOP judge selections and appointments to contribute to the politicized DOJ?

I realize that trump politicized the doj in a way that no other president t has so I suppose it makes sense that republicans would assume that biden would do the same. Yet another example of trump’s efforts to destroy the country. Sad.
