I want to listen to more than music at work and I’ve discovered podcasts. I’ve just downloaded the Dave Ramsey show, local radio stuff, and some BBC Radio podcasts. I have an iPhone so so either download from Apple Poscasts or direct from the BBC Sounds app.

When listening to Dave Ramsey, either listen to old shows with just Dave, or focus on the days when he is on the show alongside one of his new cohosts. Dave is the entertainment part of that podcast, along with really good advice for the most part. The new generation Daves are good enough, but not as charismatic or mature or straightforward in their advice.

I listen to John Delony (a Ramsey sidekick) giving relationship advice. Note this is not Web Therapy, it is practical advice from a psychology/religious perspective. I like John a lot but like all podcasters, his schtick becomes wearing. In the Ramsey orbit he is a good guy, though.

Just the other day I heard a Dave Ramsey program on a guy in his 50’s who had won $22 million in a lottery. He and his wife had kept mum about the win for more than a year. It was a great program!

Yeah, they're pushing Delony's new book on the show now, something like "How to be Not Anxious" or something cumbersome like that.

I was just talking to my 9-year old grandson about why I don't play the lottery, and I brought up how a lot of lottery winners wind up in worse shape than they were in before winning. I really love Dave's no-nonsense talk, and you know me, IL, I usually need it when it comes to money. I don't think I'll ever get it from Dave himself, but thankfully, I have you!

We are those people who would keep mum about winning the lottery ‘ cause we would not want the hassle of dealing with people and organizations with their hands out. At this stage in my life I would tell my favorite charities “ here is some money, do not hassle me for more, make this gift anonymous.”

The guy on the Ramsey show did not tell his teenage chikdren about the money because he didn’t want them to become “waiters.”

haha, “Waiters” are adults with little sense of purpose who are waiting for their inheritance. I have known a waiter or two.

Yep, I know some "waiters" who have been bailed out by inheritances...now waiting for the last one! Spend and spend.

Spent this morning listening to the Ramsey podcasts. He’s not on them at all. Not bad.
