Just got the weekly volunteer update blog from Humane. Ribbon, Taffy and Toffee all got adopted! Super happy for them! Their new lucky humans got three little furry bundles of joy.

It’s fascinating getting to meet all the cats and learn their personalities and see their progression each week. Today there was an interesting new surrender. Mama Diamond. I don’t know if that was her name or if she got renamed when she arrived. She’s only been there a couple of days so she’s still adjusting to shelter life. But she was an emotional support animal to her prior human. She was totally comfortable with me (unusual with new adult arrivals) but not ready to play and just a little nervous generally. She’ll still be there next week but I expect her to be a lot more comfortable and doing a better job of charming everyone that interacts with her.

I was wrong about Mama Diamond. Just got the weekly volunteer newsletter from the shelter and she was on the adopted list!
Ok, this guy at the shelter today could teach my girls a thing or two about finding effective hiding places. If he hadn't wiggled a bit when I walked in his room I might have stepped on him. Yes, that cat shaped blob under the rug is a cat...

This week I got to actually see the little guy under the rug. I feel bad for them. He and his brother are super afraid of people. They both just sat, backs pressed against the wall, and quietly hissed at me the whole time I was in their space. Next week I may seek out one of the cat behaviorists to see if there’s anything I can do to help socialize them. They’re young enough (3 months) that there’s hope.
