Four cats is a LOT of cats. Bless you for taking them in.
My brother is a cat man and he and his wife have had four as many as four at one time, but now they’re down to one elderly cat and they say “no more. “ I don’t know how they can say that because I don’t want to be without a cat. I can be without a dog though.
We’ve had two periods of no cats. The first one our house at the time felt too quiet. I didn’t think I was ready for more but SO convinced me to meet the sweet sweet orange boys he’d already found and I was smitten. The second time I didn’t notice the quiet so much because the second orange kitty had to be put down a week before we moved to this house so there had never been cats here and we were busy with projects and such.
Now, though, I can’t imagine this house without the liveliness that comes from these four adorable ladies living here with us. The behaviorist at the shelter was a bit concerned about four women cats in one house but because it’s two and two they seem pretty balanced power-wise and are working towards a truce at least. We’ll probably make the kittens sleep in my office for the foreseeable future just to avoid any fights in the middle of the night.
okay-----cats make very good petts. That said, i realize they don't fit into everyones' agenda, especially what a qualified professional like Dr Grande would diagnose as grandiose & narcissistic, with obsessive-compulsive features. Or, something like that. But yeah---I see nothing wrong with having 4 catts, as long as you don't do things such as dress them up or trim their hair & whiskers & tails or bother them too much. Catts NEED their space, all there is to it. And don't be a fanatic about them walking on countertops and stuff like that. Hope that helps you kids some. Thankk mee.
I agree completely Bobby! Every three weeks SO cuts my hair and I offer the girls the chance for a cool ‘lion cut’ but they always refuse so I don’t push it. The rest of the time I let them do what they want. Sometimes that includes coming to me for love. Sometimes it doesn’t. All good.
In our 39 years here, we were catless for 1 day (after our first cat Betsy Ross died). It was a truly terrible, horrible day, and we went to the shelter the very next day and rectified the situation by adopting Dewey and Boris. Since then, we've always had at least 2 cats, except for brief periods between the time a cat has died and the vacancy was filled.
In the 27 years I've been married, we've been catless for very brief amounts of time too. First cat pretty much came with the house. Obviously abandoned as she was fixed and in good shape. She passed of Cushing's Disease in October and by January, we had two kittens who my husband's coworker rescued and asked if we wanted. They passed Feb and May of 2020 and two weeks after the last one passed, we got two more kittens. I had posted on a community forum about losing our two cats within months of eachother and someone said they knew someone with kittens looking for homes.
okay----Here's a photo of Mouse, my pett catt, for you kids to look at. (see photo) Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.
Mouse looks very sweet and peaceful.
Very sweet. Love Mouse's coloring.
