okay---the like-new parkin' lite housings arrived here, but i hafta ship the lenses i got from another seller, because they fit 57, not 58. So anyway, the little fender ornaments that ONLY fit 58 Packards got here, along with the park light housings. There were only 1875 cars made, total, that used those specific parts. Yup. So, yeah---they're RARE. Also, the sellers return address is for a person who is VERY well-known in Studebakerdom. Yup. Very well-known. So, I nay as well save the boxes as long as I can, since they were sent by a noted person. Yup. That's prestige, dude. Be like if you sent away for some muss--dang parts, and they came in a box from Carroll Shelby, right? Well, Ford Fanatics definitely WOULD keep the box! Better believe it.

okay---here's a photo of Big Eds 58 Packard. How do you like that? Don't know much else, except two things: Ed is/was a mighty big wheel
(xx44444)in the world o' S-P owners, and he very kindly sold me summa his spare parts! How do ya like that? I'll prolly save the boxes he sent them in, for posterity. Big Ed was in SFD, prolly about 2010, IIRC. (see photo)

okay---here's another one. An olllllld 58L-J8. Yup.(see photo) But yeah----take a good, long look; you will prolly never see another one in your life. They are THAT rare! It has wrong-o-hubcaps and hood bezel, but anyway fairly decent-looking car. Another thing is, notice the repurposed file cabinets in the background. I recently was able to purchase a set of these lateral files at auction, which are 20+ years old, for pennies on the dollar! See, see, see? Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.

okay----my Packkard(which is really SOLID),came missing the trunk lock assembly & key. In fact---it was missing all the right keys, and somebody stupid had installed a generic ignition switch used in lawn mowers & tractors in it. Well, enough of that--it's a Packard, and a VERY rare one, too. So yeah---I've spent prolly $40 having a key made for the original ignition switch, which I found in the trunk, with the old key broken off. Then, another 40 for a key for the door locks, and then---I had to replace the trunk lock w/key and the lock housing & retainer for another $100. It is a new, but old, lock in the 60-year-old-packaging, that was SAVED, not out of greed, but because various people cared. So yeah--that solves one problem. Yup. Pretty cheap, really, because I know of people who took their nice, clean, new, SAFE monster pickup into the dealership that employs factory-trained technicians(certifified, too), and paid $250 for just one extra ignition switch key. Yup. So, yeah; doing good on my project, slowly but surely.

okay---right now, i am negotiating with a seller of a 58 Packard wheel cover for sale. The seller, i might add, is a distinguished person in the world of Studebaker-Packardom. it won't be cheap. Nope. Prolly, for what that ONE old, used hubcap will cost---why--I could go to a really good steakhouse and have a steak! yup. But, that's okay--I'm willing to forgo luxuries for car parts.

okay---update on my last update: So, anyway---I was able to purchase the good used Wheel Cover for the 58 Packard. It will be here prolly next week. From the same seller, I have acquired a pair of never-used parking light housings, never-used fin reflector housings, and never-used front fender ornaments. These are very rare, too. Especially the fender ornaments. See---only about 2200 cars used them, almost 70 years ago. Yup. Also, from another notable seller---the metal letters for the hood that spell: P A C K A R D. Those sets are not too hard to find, the former factory stash has lots of them, apparently.

okay---i know you kids are what i refer to as: "Soo-Baroo Fanatics", so for a special treat, here's a '58 Soo-Baroo, sitting in a museum.(see photo) Prolly is located in See-addle or Portland or Doo-Doo town. But yeah--isn't that antique Soo-baroo cute? How'dya liketa get your hands on that thing, sticker it out, and rack up about 30,000 miles a year going to protess rallies against consumerism till it's time ta "trade"(get screwed)? Thankk mee.
