TMS: We ordered them through our kitchen designer, but we started out with a photo of a line we really liked from Home Depot. It was their Thomasville Studio 1904 line, and the designer said the same company makes a lot of the commercially available cabinets and just brands them differently. Some of ours say "Masterbrand" inside and some say "Diamond."

IL: No, it's prefinished solid oak hardwood (by Bruce). We now have this in every room of the house except for the bathroom, which is tile. We did all the other floors ourselves.

IL: The first floor we did was our bedroom in 1997 and it still looks great.

I don't think I shared this yet, but I bought a painting for the kitchen. (I think I touched upon art as one of my gazingus pins in another thread). Anyway, this is a kind of fun and whimsical painting called "You Make Me Smile," by a local artist. It does indeed make me smile, and I felt like it belonged in our new kitchen.

That's so cute! And cool that it's from a local artist!
