I had been contemplating a Stanley Steamer, and spent a day learning how to operate one (a fellow here has one for tours and parades). It is a bit of a bother, and more effort than I wanted to spend on a gag for weekly visits to the village.

Indeed. One of the issues we ran into with the rental EV was chargers that were inaccessible outside of certain hours. We ended up going to two that weren’t accessible before finding one at a Walgreens.

In my village, there are 3 level-2 chargers, that are free to use. Two at the grocery market, one two blocks down the street in front of a community hall.

At any given time, one of the three is broken.

Worse yet, they are unusable by locals during the summertime, as people with long-range Teslas seem to have a desire to "top up" out of some demented range anxiety, and hog the spots.

I've been reading and hearing about EV charging cables being stolen, or stripped of their copper, at public recharging sites like shopping complexes.

Anyone aware of this happening in your neck of the woods?

Here in St. Louis they are gathering for the apocalypse, coming together in a largely abandoned shopping mall.

I saw my first Cyber Truck in a parking lot and was able to do a walk around. As I was taking a photo, the owner came out of Whole Foods and offered to see the inside. I have to say it was pretty luxurious and quite spacious. It's very large. I did not get a good sense of it's large size or odd design from the photos. The steering is wireless and the bed cover folds up towards the roof at the touch of a finger. The owner said it is faster than her Mach-e and turns on a dime. I could see some functional attraction for it over an F-150. She said they were on a waiting list for five years.

okay---what you have there is like a combo of a Delorrean & a Hummer, styled like a UFO. Just the ticket for the consumers with too-much-income-coming-in, trying to look cool. Massive Fail, Stock Scam. Tucker was prosecuted, for stuff like that. hope that helps you some. thankk mee.

okay---new news. But yeah---at the last cruise, there were several Teslas participating, and a Tesla Truck pulled a massive hole-shot at the intersectioin VS I forget-what, but that Tesla was a screamer. Only--pretty quiet. That said--I saw one today, bombing down Chestnut, and it looked fierce. I don't care what they say---I'd liketa have one. Lucky You, to anybody that can afford one. Yup.

we have one here in Hermann, just up the hill from where we live. We see it often. I saw it coming toward me in the darkness of early evening, some weeks ago, and it was creepy.

I liked this. Never was an early adopter, unless you count weapon systems during the Strategic Defense Initiative. Still waiting for all those people who thought missile defense was a waste of time to admit they were wrong. I was extending my phones’s antenna in the flip phone era, and flipping my phone open well into the Age of Apple (they used to call me “Captain Kirk”). My kid despairs of me, but I don’t think the Cybertruck is ready for prime time, except maybe as a status display.
