Nestle, Pepsi and Coca-Cola have probably been responsible for the almost total disappearance of the once-ubiquitous water fountains.

Ditto. I switch between two stainless steel bottles at work and have several at home. Still need to stop those few occasions of plastic, but - still - feel good about my progress so far.

For home use I use a Brita pitcher. My travel bottle is a Nalgene.

My coworker brings her Stanley cup (ridiculous thing; looks like a sippy cup for adults) and says she's helping the environment. But instead of filling it with the filtered water from the machine at work, she uses two bottles of water from the pack in the fridge.
