    Homemade ice cream machine

SO bought an ice cream maker off Facebook marketplace for $10 that seemed to be brand new. I asked what was up with that and he said ‘judging from everything else the guy has sold/is selling I think it’s an unwanted wedding gift…

He’s going to make his first batch tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it. Cherry chocolate. Ice cream is very much a ‘sometimes’ treat for me so I only want to use the calories/blood glucose budget for treats like this on stuff that’s REALLY delicious.

    I cheat.

I just put frozen berries into my Vitamix blender, with cream or yogurt, or sometimes just water/orange juice, hit “zap”, and call it a day.

With this method, I can make a single serving of “ice cream” in moments, and not endanger my sanity and diet by keeping actual containers of ice cream in the freezer.

I haven’t tasted it yet but SO is lamenting that the ice cream is more ‘essence of chocolate cherry’ flavor. Apparently he significantly underestimated the amount of flavor needed to not make it taste like frozen unflavored cream.

Single serving sounds so sensible BAE.

I get my ice cream urge mostly satisfied by plain Greek yogurt, a frozen cherry/berry blend, and a bit of sugar. I eat this with the fruit still frozen. Quite refreshing in the hot weather.
