    National Public Data Breach

Both DH and I got an email this weekend stating our social security numbers are now available on the dark web…meaning available for viewing? We do have freezes already on our credit reports but now have to wade through more garbage. Anyone else affected or notified?

If it's the data breech I think it is, better then 50% of the nation is affected.

Not notified, but I figured mine was included in the data breach. Who notified you?

No notifications here. Who sent you the email? If it wasn't the Social Security Administration I'd disregard it as spammers hoping you'll reply with personal info.

I got a notice from Ticketmaster about a month back and just got one last week from a healthcare organization. It's getting bad out there!!

How long until a lawsuit asking them to pay for credit monitoring?

I have been getting various notices of data breaches along with an invitation to subscribe to a monitoring service.

The best thing any of us can do to protect ourselves is to put freezes at the big three credit bureaus. It’s free and no one can open a credit account in your name. Other than that I wouldn’t worry too much beyond getting your free credit reports every year.
