They detail several ways this might happen and several seem plausible, for example,

"He will deepen distrust in the election results by making unsupported or hyperbolic claims of widespread voter fraud and mounting longshot lawsuits challenging enough ballots to flip the outcome in key states", or "He will call on allies in GOP-controlled swing-state legislatures to appoint “alternate” presidential electors."

The great predictive powers of Politico have Trump doing what he has been doing for the past several years. Brilliant.

EDIT to add... there is a noticeable dearth of the usual campaign yard signs, both local and presidential, around my neighborhood. I've wondered if people are afraid of some sort of reprisal from what ever the opposite side is. That's a little concerning.
OMG I've noticed this, too. Hardly any signs out in the neighborhood even though it's deep dark blue. Interestingly enough the only sign out is from our transplants from Wichita KS, I posted about a few years back now sporting a Harris/Walz sign in their rented yard. Rob

I believe violence from the Far Right may start the evening of 11/5 should Harris win. It's good to be out of the country to guage the scope of potential upcoming instability/insanity. Rob

heck, I wished I'd have thought of it before, too. I suppose everyone knows that his respect for the constitution is miniscule.

    About an honest election:

I realize the predominant narrative here is that the Republicans will do anything to get their candidate into office. They will attempt to break the wheels of democracy to carry out their evil intent.

But in my Republican county, the election official, our county clerk, was absolutely indignant when she wrote about the last election and any hint of wrongdoing in Gasconade County. She was answering questions including one about discrepancy of number of votes for President in relation to the total number of votes cast. There were fewer votes cast for president than total voters. She said that’s common with every election, some voters just do not vote for President.

oh and our election official county clerk is a Republican herself because she came to our Republican caucus and stood with the Trump side of the room.

It’s impossible for people like JP to trust she is upholding a fair and honest election, but I trust her. And ironically, the blue city where I moved from is the place that had a court ordered new election because the previous one had been corrupted by… I know this is hard to believe… hard-core Democrats.

I’m mostly not so worried about local and state election officials. Sure, there were a couple last time around that showed us how much they hate America but those losers are mostly now in jail like the woman in Colorado. Much more concerning is whatever v 2.0 plan the orange traitor has for the House of Representatives and slates of electors. If he’s going to succeed at overthrowing the government that’s where it’s going to happen.

I don't know why but I was compelled to listen to American Tune by Paul Simon this morning. It is a very fitting song for all the political/cultural craziness going on right now.

I was sent "The Day Democracy Died" by Don Maclean this week by a Canadian. It is not just the US that is concerned...

I was a little surprised to learn those pro-Gaza incendiary devices did so little actual damage in the PNW. Were those ballot collection boxes equipped with some sort of fire suppression?
