Of course you don’t. I wouldn’t expect you to understand.

You lack the acute race sensitivity it takes to detect the racism of scheduling rallies in towns that were segregated a century ago.

    LOL, obviously!

Indeed. Symbolism is an easily denied thing for republicans. Much like the dog whistles they pretend not to hear.

If the symbolism of historic associations is so important to you, why support the party that defended slavery and Jim Crow for all those years?

Because I understand the difference between symbolism and history.

I'm getting worried as the 34 Felony count candidate is threatening to land upon Springfield in the near future. I am worried of some kind of standoff fully the fault of DJT and his henchman. The situation seems ripe for it. I can also say SO and I will be in Mexico for the US elections and a few days afterwards. It's just not a very stable society and the powder keg would not take much to set it off. I just hope no innocent Haitian migrants lose their lives. Rob

There’s a direct historical connection between the Democratic Party and the Confederacy, KKK and Jim Crow laws. Concocting some wispy connection between Trump and and the “sundown towns” of many decades ago smacks of the creation of fake outrage over the Steele dossier, Project 2025 or Dan Rather’s “fake but accurate” documents.

For one thing, Trump doesn’t strike me as any kind of student of history. For another, it’s probably impossible to hold an event anywhere in the country, or perhaps even the world, unsullied by racism.

When people talk about “dog whistles”, they’re usually talking about what they like to imagine people they don’t like are thinking.
