    No Teamsters Endorsement

I see the Teamsters Union, that longstanding ATM for the Democratic Party, won’t be endorsing a presidential candidate this cycle. The rank and file polled pretty substantially in favor of Trump, but the union bosses had different priorities. I read that they were angry that Trump wouldn’t pledge to veto any national right to work bill that might get passed.

That surprised me too, and that Harris isn't going to the Al Smith dinner. Maybe things have changed more than I realize.

    Their press release stated:

"Neither major candidate was able to make serious commitments to our union to ensure the interests of working people are always put before Big Business," Teamsters President Sean O'Brien said in explaining the union's decision. "We sought commitments from both Trump and Harris not to interfere in critical union campaigns or core Teamsters industries — and to honor our members’ right to strike — but were unable to secure those pledges."

I find the idea of Harris attempting standup to be profoundly disturbing. Her handlers obviously do too. Plus it benefits Catholic Charities.

Trump at least could function as a really bad insult comic.

Didn't he go in 2016 to the one with Hillary Clinton and start accusing her of sex crimes? Or did I imagine that. . .

I heard a couple excerpts from this dinner with Trump jokes from Trump friendly media. The jokes are written for him and they were fairly funny, but this media source thought he needed practice in delivery.

At one point, trump said... I don't get it. Yeah, the jokes were written for him.
