    Disappointed in Austria.....

It looks like my Homeland retained little learned after Reconstruction after WW2. The far right won in Austria's very recent elections. Austria will still remain a literal paradise compared with what the United States has sunk to but....this is not good.

Watch for strange far right soundbites coming from Austria not too far off. I will find them very painful. Rob

There were 192,000 Jewish folks in Austria in 1938. There are 10,300 today.

Nationalist parties have been on the upswing in much of Europe. I’m not entirely sure of all the reasons. Maybe a reaction to mass immigration. Maybe dissatisfaction with the emerging EU soft power empire. Maybe internal conflicts. Apparently not everybody are the happy, contented socialists we keep hearing about.

The recent rioting in England is blamed on immigration.

apparently those unhappy with immigration heard their leaders say they were going to be limiting immigration over and over. Those leaders did not do that. What seems to be happening there is rapidfire legal immigration is leading to enclaves of immigrants who are not assimilating.

Our American story of cultural assimilation and strengthening the social fabric due to outside cultural influences, does not seem to be happening there, The situation is the first time I’ve thought about legal immigration as perhaps problematic.

Not perfect. All those schools and hospitals named after saints say something about our prior treatment of Catholics, for instance. And our recent immigration experience seems somewhat problematic. But we do seem to be doing better in general assimilation than the more homogeneous countries of Europe.

okay---yah. I don't care what "they" say about him, he probably was one great leader. He spoke to the concerns of the common German, who did the work and invented the machines, etc. What was his message? It was: We, are being used and exploited and oppressed, though we as a people, are the most productive and hard-working on earth!!! Note that I didn't say "most intelligent". That distinction is reserved for Hahhvahhd & Oxfahhhd grads., right? And of course-Princeton. Don't ever forget Princeton. Ha. But yah---Germans are inbtelligent, but they perceived that certain classes and empire-building nations(on the east and on that island to the west), were oppressing and exploiting them---and they sure were. . Just as blacks, Native Americans, and other minorities claim(with some success) that they have been or are being exploited and oppressed. BTW-Show Me how Germany sent Black slaves to the USA. That said---everyone has been taken advantage of, at one time or another. Yup. So anyway---I see cracks forming in the popular narrative that 'Boomers have been trained to believe in -or-else, and I predict there will eventually be some "revisionism" to set the record straight. Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee. One VERY important thing--War is Hell, no matter who is fighting it. It is not Humane. Thankk mee.
