My county’s Public Health Officer is coordinating with my agency, to prepare for this. The situation, in this region, looks “interesting”, and we’re planning accordingly. Then again, low-frequency/high-risk events are sort of what we do.
I find the timing a little disturbing as the next regime in charge plans cut backs in the NIH and CDC. At the present it's unlikely to be a threat to people, but it's already disrupting the intensive culture of industrial live stocks.

Did you read the article I posted? Farmers, who often vote GOP, are refusing to let USDA officials on their farms to test cows. I hang out elsewhere on line where there are lots of GOP voters and they’re not trusting the CDC at all on bird flu due to covid. Forget that bird flu has been around for ages. This is a problem.
It’s to the point now that Covid deniers are attacking anyone who expresses concern about the bird flu.
