I agree, Rob; Jimmy Carter was a 100% real man, a truly good person who made the world a better place, as his actions always showed.

Okay----have it your way. Eulogize jimmah all you want, here. Get it out of your system. I was just reading how, after the so-callewd "ww2, that holland was awarded German territory, as "reparation". But then in the early 60's, that territory(s) were returned to Germany. Isn't that interesting?

He was a great man. Too nice to be a good President, but he certainly was an exemplary human being.

I met him in 1976, when he was running for President. I was working for NBC News and my boss told me to go down and meet his car and bring him up to Studio 6H. I was so psyched and I rehearsed small talk on the way down in the elevator. But as it turned out, it wasn't like Jimmy and I were just hanging out shooting the sh*t . His Secret Service surrounded him and they were TALL and SERIOUS! Pretty darn intimidating. But I was able to meet and greet him and shake his hand.

When it comes down to perhaps not the best president of our generation, he has plenty of company. He was a good man and a perfect example of life lived to its fullest. Each seems to have their challenges of the circumstance of the day.

I was not especially aware of politics during his presidency, but do remember the 55mph speed limits during the energy crisis. At the time my car wouldn’t go much faster and it seemed fine. It still seems ok.
