    My dentist thinks I'm royalty

..for he constantly wants to "crown" me.

Remember the old days when we used to have dental cavities and they got filled?

Now, with the advent of in-office crown fabricators, dental caries and fillings have almost vanished and crowns rule!

I've lot of crowns. Now my dentist is wanting to replace the old crowns with new ones.

    (sigh)

    It gets old...

    Is your dentist the same?

I’m not sure. I have only one filling from the time I fell off my bike when I was 11 years old. That was, gosh, 60 years ago. The filling has lasted 60 years. Unbelievable.

YES!! We are now on our third dentist here and each one has said we need different things done. I asked one who said a crown was not needed why the previous one would recommend one. She said some dentists replace crowns as a "preventative" measure so they won't be problematic in the future. I am growing very leery of dentists and veterinarians as it seems they find a lot of ways to increase their revenue.

And here I was thinking there was some reference to the royal family and British teeth.

That was my first reaction/thought as well. LOL.

I have a few crowns, but thankfully none have needed to be replaced yet. I've had many fillings replaced over the the years though. My understanding is that whenever a filling is replaced, a little more of the tooth structure is removed each time the old filling material is drilled out. For larger fillings, eventually there is not enough of the original tooth left to hold things together, so a crown becomes necessary rather than a filling.

Haha, That's a whole other topic! I don't don't know if there's a correlation between cavities and Cadbury's, but bad British teeth is a thing.
