    50th Anniversary of SNL

Kind of hard to believe this show is a half century old.

I was watching some of the old clips on You Tube. Some are still funny these many years later.

Great talent and writing and risk-taking.

Congratulations to Lorne Michaels and all the contributors to SNL. Great memories...

I can't believe it either... I was working at NBC when the show launched, so it always brings back happy memories of working there. Lorne Michaels has done an amazing job of keeping it afloat through the good years and the years that weren't so good.

I think it's so cool you typed Chevy Chase's contract--you're a part of that history!
I remember the show came out my senior year in college, I think it first aired on Christmas Break that year, and that's all people were talking about when we got back? Correct me if I am wrong about the timing, it's been 49 years since senior year.

We used to like to get high and watch it on Saturday nights, long, long ago. Now we just watch the occasional online clip when we hear they've done something epic.

The golden days were when Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Aykroyd, Garret Morse, Bellucci Jane Curtain, etc. were all together. It's almost odd to see the survivors now, as it seems like they should all stay forever young. The show lost it's appeal as they were worked out of the line up. Some of the early musical guests were legendary. I think we might have indulged in a little then illegal activity to watch the show. Now it's a challenge just to stay awake that late.

I still love Bill Murray. He is a Hollywood weirdo who doesn't have a public relations representative or a manager, he just makes his own place in the world.

One of my favorite movies is a version of Somerset Maugham's, "The Razor's Edge" where Murray has serious role as the main star. He was still fairly young then so it might be slightly dated. Although it's hard to think of him without a few lines of Caddy Shack coming to mind.
