Veterans and federal jobs

In 2023 veterans made up about 6% of the population. They make up about 30% of the federal workforce. So these layoffs are going to really impact the veteran population.

I doubt many people on the doge team or Trump realize how they are affecting Veterans.

Musk of course was born of a wealthy South African family. He acquired Canadian citizenship from his mother’s country. Finally is 2002 acquired US citizenship. So a unelected man who has three countries citizenships has huge access to our government and a large influence on the workings and policies. So I would not expect him to care much about those who served.

Unfortunately Trump and Musk will come out of this with an eye towards tax advantages for the wealthiest on the backs of many veterans. And their cronies have a good chance of coming out of this fine too.

I don't understand this, either. Yesterday the VA fired 1000 people. These are people who provide services to veterans. They closed down the residency program so there are no new doctors coming in to work with the veterans.

I am glad my dad, who served in the Marines in WWII, died before these people took over our country. I am glad he was spared these shameful days in our history.
