That was adorable! And I totally relate to wanting "friends with benefits" rather than a serious commitment, after having loved and lost two dogs over a 20 year period.

    I really enjoyed reading it.

That is so sweet! Thanks so much again for sharing.

And interesting timing - a neighbor heard I was retiring and wondered if I would pet sit for them on occasion. I'm thinking I will!!!

Nice! I like having temporary dogs as well, we foster dogs, or we used to until our current dog moved in. He is dog aggressive and will not allow others around.

I have one now, a rescue I adopted 2 weeks ago. A 2 year old black lab named Mika and she is always by my side. Has love from me, her former owner did not treat her well. Comes to work with me and she is loved spoiled rotten there, a co worker of mine gives her a dog treat, Mika knows her well now. I had another lab 2 years ago, it was tough when I made the decision to put them down at 12 years old due to arthritis

Dogs Rule! Right now I'm fascinated by Basenji's..very cat like...they make interesting noises--kind of yodel. Not sure how they are as pets...anyone know more about the??.

(when I was a kid, there was a novel about a boy who found an escaped show dog Basenji in the swamps of Florida. He had to give up the dog eventually...it was heart-breaking. Book was called Goodbye My Lady.
