Payday and another $1K into high yield savings account. $3K in big bank savings connected to checking and now $8400 in high held savings. So $11,400 total. That feels so nice.

    That's wonderful, tradd! Congrats!

Side question... after seeing savings grow and grow, does it get hard/harder to imagine taking it out and spending it? For example, about four months back I bought a sibling's car for more than I've ever paid for a car before (new or used). Love the car! Great purchase! No buyer's remorse! But seeing that big dip out of savings was... unsettling - I guess would be a good way to describe it. LOL. Anyone else go through that? Again, just a little curiosity question. lol

I absolutely get that, happystuff. Very hard for me to spend that security blanket in the bank. My husband spent a big chunk on a new vehicle and I had to bite my tongue to try and stop him because it was our money. I was afraid if he didn't do that he would take out a car loan, which would be worse. Oh well.

This is my emergency fund. Six months of expenses is $15K. Given the economy and the industry I work in, I want the cash in the bank. This isn’t for fun spending. And once I hit the $15K, I’m going to keep going.

    That's great, Tradd!

I saw a quote saying that staying home is the most radical thing one can do to help the environment. It also helps the savings. I too get the lump in my throat when we spend "excess" money.

Keep it going and keep up the good work!
My emergency fund, up to the death in 2020 was $50k. Now I am trying to rebuild it from just shy of nothing. Part of it turned into equity in the house (have somewhere around $160K in equity), and part of it disappeared into the restaurant, due to "ti".
Got my taxes done yesterday (wanting to make sure they are done while we are both alive), and found if it wasn't for replacing pretty much all the equipment in there last year, it would have had a profit (instead it broke even). Dramatic turn around.

What do you call staying home? Not flying? No road trips? No day trips locally?

Bored out of my mind if I had to always stay home! Guess, as Tradd suggested, it depends on how that is defined….

I am never bored at home. A day at home with nowhere to go feels like such a wonderful luxury. I like to go places some of the time, but home is where my books and plants and cats and the one I love best are. It's pretty hard to beat that.
