    Electronic payment fees

I guess this relates to the thread on writing checks. DH took the car in for brake work. To avoid the credit card fee, he took the checkbook. They tacked on an electronic payment fee for using a check amounting to $20. So I guess you have to pay to pay these days. They didn't offer him any other payment options so I am not happy about that.

Checks have been considered electronic payments since the Check 21 law that went through in the early 2000s. All the planes grounded after 9/11 was the catalyst.

How much would the cc fee have been? Same as the check?

I asked DH to call the auto shop where the work was done. The owner apologized and said it was a software error. He will refund us the 2.65% charge. Gotta watch these guys...the $35 shop fee is more than enough extra.
