    amazon or local retailer?

I need a specialty item to complete a blouse I am altering. Do I get in the car and drive a mile to the fabric store or order from amazon and have it tomorrow for a dollar less? What would you do? Seems so wasteful to have one cheap item delivered.

I don't have a bike anymore but it is within easy walking distance so I might get up early tomorrow and head out before it gets hot. I usually do piddly errands like that when I'm out driving but just don't need anything else right now.

Will the fabric store actually have what you need?

Can you call and do a stock check? If so, can you do it on say grocery day or other errands at the same time (post office, library, etc)?

When both Steve and Tim were alive, I did go to Sam's club for mostly cleaning supplies we used for work. I bought for me, my parents, Steve, the restaurant and sometimes Tim (he loved to shop himself, to the point of buying what he already head), what we needed there all in one trip. I could drive to the shop, drop off the restaurant and Tim's stuff, take Steve's home (my home now, behind the restaurant), then go take my parents home (and have dinner), then head home. I love merging running as much as possible.

I know so many people who try to buy locally, but the store doesn’t have what they need, so they go home and order online.

Sometimes that’s me, only it may be that the store has it, but I just wander up and down the aisles, trying to find it and cannot find it. My patience for in real life shopping for items is limited. But I also understand not wanting to make an Amazon delivery For something small.

I would probably go with the local retailer if it's only a dollar more.

I think I would also go for the local retailer - and definitely would walk to get it! I try to do at least two miles, so that would be a perfect round trip. Good luck!
