I've taught at this college for 17 years. I started as part-time, then was full-time, then went back to part-time when they were firing the full-timers in our department who were over 55.
Now they have announced a pay cut starting October. It's about 20-25%. This is a job where in 17 years, part-timers have never had a raise.
The work is more than it used to be as we are now supposed to be sleuthing out whether students are using AI, etc., and making them submit drafts of their work if they say it's not AI, etc.
It really has me upset and angry. I'm 69 and disabled. It's about half of my total pay for the two jobs, sometimes less, sometimes more.
What would you do in my shoes?
