Must be the season, Rosa. They do look beautiful! While doing the polishing-took all of 15 minutes, I reacalled my aunt doing hers once a year...all spread out on the dining room table that was covered with newspaper. She had big pieces that were hard to do. My big pieces-not many are all in tarnish retardant cloth-silver cloth I think it is called, up in the attic. Never use it as I never entertain in that manner any more. All dishwasher-able serving platters! And I hardly ever entertain.

Congrats, nswef, on the polished silver!

I'm back from time away. I did do 2 hours of decluttering before I left in preparation for the catsitter and did 1.5 hours tonight. New total: 11.5.

I got rid of nearly all my silver serving pieces about 15 years ago. I kept several round serving trays that I use occasionally, usually as chargers, and one large ornate tray that I had re-silvered at a silly cost. But it has some sentimental value.

as far as silver plate utensils, we use those at home every day. For sterling I keep it at our condo and use it. It is too pretty not to use. Because I needed some of our every day utensils for the holiday tablescape event, I brought home sterling pieces and I’ve been using those for the past several weeks and putting them in the dishwasher. They are fine.

I put in 3 hours the last two days. Our guinea pig died in mid-December right before we went out of town, so yesterday, my daughter and I loaded his cage, bags of food, hay, and bedding and took it all to a shelter. We miss him, but we have a lot more space in the hallway now!

And tonight, I went through paper and got rid of quite a bit. I'm so happy I have a lighter work schedule right now and can catch up on some of this. New total: 14.5.

I've got a little break in my workload in the next couple of weeks, and a houseguest coming on the 7th, so I'm hoping (again) to make a big push. I did two hours today and now I have a pile by the door to go out tomorrow (donations, returns, etc.).

    New total: 16.5.

I did three more hours today! I tackled the cabinet under the sink in our downstairs bathroom and realized I need some small shelves under there to use the space more efficiently so I ordered some, along with a sponge holder and an organizer.

    New total: 19.5.

My houseguest is coming on Saturday, February 7, and my hope is to get this batch of 40 hour finished before then and also get rid of 100 items before then. I'll keep letting you know how I'm doing, of course!
