    Sputnikfest

If you are anywhere near Manitowoc Wisconsin on Saturday, drop by the annual celebration of space debris landing on Eighth and Park. The alien pet parade alone is worth the trip.

It’s one of my favorite local festivals, and I’ve been to the Seymour Burger Fest and the Arcola Broom Corn Festival.

okay---sorry, but i won't be driving upta wah-SKON-sun, due ta the fact it's too cold up there---even in summer. Plus---to far. Don't wanna put needless wear-n-tear on my vehicle. Nope. Could care less about pieces o' sputnik, anyhow. TYVM, anyway.

I wish I lived closer. It's a little past now, but the Rocky Ford Water Mellon Day might be one for one's bucket list. Free watermelons for everyone. It's been going on for a hundred years or more, unlike the fall tarantula migration which is a recent tourist promotion. I was there before it became popular.

I was talking the other day about laying on the lawn in the summer time and watching for a satellite when they were rare. I'm was thinking one of them might have been a sputnik, but maybe not. I think the ruskies killed a lot of dogs in the early space programs.

Now a days there could be some concerns over the Kessler Effect.
