haha, thanks. I could adjust First amendment/free speech down to 30% I suppose, and that would still peg it as the single most important issue in my bag of feelings.

I passed the 25 gallon mark in blood donations this week. I donated all through the pandemic, and when I was younger often did platelets or double red. Now, I can only do red. Such an easy thing to do plus you have a pile of tshirts to wear to the gym, get gift cards etc and get a cookie! Actually I started in nursing school and all through my life have made it a priority. There is a critical need. I can’t believe it is an issue to report your gender at birth. It’s all about saving lives.
every four seconds someone dies of starvation action in the world. US aid may not have been perfect but they did try to address this problem. Maybe taking some time to study what food programs were working and improve them and save them could have saved a life. Domestically, Cutting school lunch and snap programs could have a devastating effect on children

also the doge firings did not take need, performance, skill etc. into account and left departments and families in chaos. Reading Tradds accounts and listening to one of my relatives who works in DC shows the effects on ordinary people who are trying to work hard and do the right thing.

the censorship and punishment of enemies is unacceptable and tyrannical.

So as I go through my late 70’s I look around and think, what is the purpose of all this? Why are we alive? What purpose is our life? I have had many friends pass and I may have another one year or fifteen years. Who knows. But I will always know that the virtues of generosity, kindness, sharing, understanding and loving have become more important as the years fly by.

some of the actions I see in our government today are just plain mean and cruel and I cannot support them.

Yes, abruptly changing meaning of words in English language is a sign of power takeover. Subvert the language. Define out of existence concepts you don't like. No one knows that better than the far left.

There are numerous articles about trans ideology stomping on women’s reality and rights in language, but this is the first one that came up in my Google search. Julie Bindle is an old school lesbian in England who works for women’s rights in this crazy world where “trans women are women. “

No they are not, but now we have a tug-of-war over meaning of the word “woman.” Congratulations progressives!

I don’t know if anyone is able to access the Substack article, but some exerpts:

“…Confusing, dehumanising and counter productive. That’s what I would call the latest assault on language suggested by a women’s cancer charity in recent days. Having gone through decades of stigma and shame about naming our genitals accurately as opposed to using stupid euphemisms, we are now advised that because some transwomen or transmen might find the term ‘vagina‘ offensive, upsetting, or exclusionary, we use ‘bonus hole’ or ‘front hole’…”

Add these terms to “ Chest feeding” and “ birthing person” and I ask you, who exactly is subverting our language? It isn’t the Trump camp.

I hate the fkng T-shirts they always trying to push on me while I’m giving blood. T-shirts. Socks. The only useful thing they dangled in front of me for a while was free movie passes, but neither DH nor I could get the weblinks to work and it wasn’t worth our time to complain. Because obviously we don’t give blood for the purpose of gathering the stupid perks. I just find them Annoying as hell and it seems I have to have a friendly argument every time at the Red Cross about taking this junk.

I do not support Trump’s agenda, insofar as he appears to have one. He has appropriated some of the worst ideas traditionally associated with the Left (protectionism, anti-vax, industrial policy, censorship and racial essentialism) and combined them with a crude populist nationalism.

There is no conservative party left. We have only populists and socialists to choose

I worked across he street from a Red Cross donation center. You can give platelets weekly and I went almost every other week for a number of years. The employer used to let us leave with pay for several hours a month to do blood donations, meals on wheels, food drive deliveries to food banks and so on. Until a big company took over, did layoffs and stopped it. Profits over people. The story that repeats itself over and over.

so true. As an independent I have voted for the best candidate regardless of party most of my life. Now I feel like it is the lesser of two evils.

I only see lawsuits, wild spending sprees on a whim, erosion of the safety nets, rising health and food costs and more childhood illnesses and deaths coming.
