    December Frugals - Comedy Edition!

We really outdid ourselves this year with our annual visit to Harbor Sweets in Salem. Would you believe $426.42? Kids in a candy store are nothing compared to a couple of adults with a credit card! Some of this was for holidays gifts, but much of it was gifts to us from us, lol. But it was frugal because we got 10% off our entire purchase, $20 off for accrued customer loyalty points, and several of the items we got were autumn-themed items on clearance. In other words, we could have spent closer to $600.

We probably should not be allowed into that store unless accompanied by a responsible adult!

Oh, gosh, it's EASY to spend that on candy in a higher-end store. DH's favorite - locally made dark chocolate covered bourbon cherries - are $40 for a box of 15. They are amazing, but cheap they are not. And Chocolate Springs in Lenox has wonderful things - I think the last time I priced a 20 piece box of mixed chocolates for DH's aunt, it was around $50. But we don't eat much actual candy, so when we do, we want the really good stuff, lol.
Harbor Sweets looks amazing, how have we missed that?? I guess when we're passing thru Salem we're usually looking for witchy stuff, funky clothes, or hanging out around the House of Seven Gables. Another place to put on my "must visit" list!

It is a high-end chocolate store, and it really isn't that difficult.

Your post about Salem made me remember a trip to Salem about forty years ago when we went to the Salem Witch Museum. I am thinking my granddaughters would love to see Salem, so I checked it out and it's only about a two hour drive. I told my son we should do a spring road trip there--so now we are planning an unfrugal but fun trip to Salem. Since we have ancestors that lived (and didn't) through the witch trials, this should be a cool history lesson.

    ok, chocolate I can see.

I usually spend $35 to $55 every time I go down to our local handmade chocolate shop so yeah, I can see that.

I'm so sorry that my un-frugal ways are proving contagious!

Consider it a support group, Rosa, where we can confess our un frugal ways.
