    Winter Challenge

Winter solstice occurs on a Sunday morning.

Remember to take time to focus on yourself and not get overwhelmed by things or people.

Here's my list which will grow as I think of things

    Christmas trip
    January project cashmere cardigan
    February project socks
    March project gloves

Found a wool/cashmere yarn a few years ago on clearance and bought enough for a cardigan. Been too afraid to use it until now. Going with a smaller project in February since it's a shorter month and giving me some time to finish up the cardigan since cardigans generally take a month to knit for me. I'm sure there's other stuff to do, just not thinking about it now. March project is for a friend that is cashing in a favor, gloves can be very time consuming and March is the only time we can meet for measurements and then trying them on and making corrections and related fun.

Hope everyone has a great winter, whatever you do

I'm envious of your knitting abilities. I've tried! My mom didn't knit, and my grandma tried to teach me. So I just stuck with crochet.
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!

I'm impressed with your crochet, I tried it several times and never got the hang of it.

rosa, We did the energy audit. It was helpful. We paid to do the big one, but then got a rebate from the power company.
What is a 5 wishes document?
I am filling out my body donation form to the state of Maryland. Husband has not read all of the information yet... I did ask my sisters if they had any objections and they were fine with it.
Right now the plumbers are here replacing the well water pump and holding tank....lots of money!

    1. Go through all files and update, discard, and organize, by January 31
    2. Finish assembling documents for granddaughters' dual citizenship case
    3. Attend three local churches and find one that feels right
    4. Finish pair of socks

Nswef, 5 wishes document is a document that lays out medical directives, funeral directives, etc. They used to present it to us in Maine but I think they have switched to another one. But it's nice and comprehensive and walks you through the decisions.

Yes, I have one of those to complete as well, mine is a MOLST form (Massachusetts Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment). That one's only been sitting on my desk for a few weeks though; Five Wishes form has been sitting there for 1.5 years).

    Christmas trip done
    January project cashmere cardigan 50%
    February project socks
    March project gloves
    No buy January ongoing
Prepare for another possible government shutdown ongoing

Cardigan is over halfway done. Trying to do more knitting and less doomscrolling. Have to make a business trip later this week, so I decided to catch up while doing final work arrangements. I'll bring the waiting room socks for the trip, the cardigan is too bulky to take with me. No buy January is pretty much a habit now, not counting the business trip since it's work related and on the company dime. Putting money in the 90 day fund. Usually my slow season is from US Thanksgiving to Epiphany, things are picking up and I hope I can make up for a not so good last year. No one wanted to close deals during the shutdown and they wanted to wait until January for reasons. Should have it full before the 30th. Trying to focus on work and try not to worry about things beyond my control.
