    The Shining
I first watched My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music on the "big screen". Parents would drive us kids up to the big city and the Cinerama, with the three projectors in synch on an enormously wide screen. I mentioned Cinerama to some young folks and they'd never hear of such a thing, although there's Imax now. I was very little, but both were memorable movies that made an impression due to scale.

DH and I have an interesting bond. Both of us saw The Sound of Music with our dads in the movie theatre when it came out. In both our cases, it was the last movie we saw with our fathers. His died, and mine left home. We were both 11-12 at the time.

Interesting, Catherine. Did that result in you guys feeling a fondness for the movie, or the opposite?

Very cool bond. And very cool that you both actually know that of each other! Meaning, lots of couples don't talk that much in-depth about some things.

I remember, as a child, seeing "Mary Poppins" at a drive-in. First and last time the entire family went to the movies together. LOL

    How poignant, Catherine.

I only recall ever going to the movies once with my Dad. I took him to see The Sting. At the surprise ending he let out an incredulous sound! So funny. He was totally sucked in. He wasn't much of a moviegoer and this was my treat.

    My list:
    LOTR trilogy
    The Pianist
    The Office
    The Usual Suspects
    The Lost King
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!

The Lost King? The film about finding the grave of Richard the third? That whole saga was fascinating.

This reminds me that at one time the last emperor was on my top 10 list, but that was a couple decades ago. But man that reminds me, I need to go find that film and watch it again.

I stand corrected: Mr .Google said Hannibal Lector lived at the old State Asylum for the Insane which is now a forensic center, near our old grocery store.

But more horror trivia: The real life exorcism that inspired The Exorcist was held at Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis.
