    Moments after death

This post is sparked by discussion how to write a thank you upon the death of a loved one….

Not too long ago I was clinically dead for a short while. You hear talk of people having near death experiences where they say they saw their life pass before their eyes or they saw “the light”. My experience(s) were the feeling of an intense “hot flash” starting at my feet and traveling to my head and again intense “hot flash” starting at my chest going upward. I don’t remember anything else. DH commented “so maybe life just ends?”. Or maybe, that is when I came back to life? I am wondering if anyone here has had a near death experience?

Wow...that's so interesting, frugal! I have never had an NDE or even been close to one. I'm just curious--aside from the physical sensation, what did you feel? Did you have any feelings at all?

I have never had one either, but - like many - am very interested in the experiences of others.

I have brought people back from "mostly dead" status a fair number of times, and most of them are too zonked out to have any reports of their experience, alas.

I was pretty sure I was dead here a few years back, when I sank a boat off the north shore of our island in the cold cold cold water, but I was conscious the whole time until rescue arrived ~1 hour later. It was unpleasant.

The docs said I was the talk of the hospital. People kept coming into my room. DH and I were playing cards and they kept commenting…surprised I was up and functioning. Later the doc showed us the stats on, evidently a long time, that I had flatlined. I came back on my own. I told them I have things to do and places to go. I am not ready to kick the bucket. I distinctly remember the intense hot flashes but nothing else. It was a truly weird sensation.

Well, I'm glad frugal-one and Bae still with us! And I too have never had a NDE.
