    What Is This?

Everytime I come to this website I receive a warning that I am under attack by Web Attack Malicious Website Accessed 2. And another thing that happens here is I can't make a paragraph. It will only let me type everything all together, no matter what I do. I am concerned about both, as neither one happens anywhere else I go on the internet. Does anyone else here experience the same thing? I am worried that it is not safe to come here, which makes me sad, as I like this place...

I did not see a warning.

    And

    I

    can

    make

    paragraphs.

I am sure someone knows what you are seeing and will pop in and help.

Yarrow: We've had issues a couple of times where people were getting warnings about malware attacks. Alan dealt with the issue for us, but nobody every actually had anything bad happen, and I think Google continued to warn it's users even after the threat was gone. Do you use Google for a browser? I use IE and never got the warnings. I believe I can also make paragraphs.

One of the problems with running a discussion forum such as ours is that there are an awful lot of people in the world trying to exploit it for their purposes. We've had on-going problems over the past couple of years with spammers attempting to inject re-direct scripts into our core files. The purpose of their attacks is to re-direct our visitors to their sites which are usually porn or gambling related.

There are several safeguards in place to help us identify and deal with the problem, including some re-direct countermeasures built into modern browsers, and outside interests such as Google including malicious code detection in their continuing perusal of all internet websites. When an issue is found, Google will immediately add an affected site to their list of suspicious sites which most browsers automatically check prior to rendering any site's home page. We've made it onto that list twice in the last year, although we've been able to then go into the site's core files, find the injected scripts and eliminate them.

It's been months since the last successful script injection, although I can't discount the possibility of broken script remnants somewhere in the thousands of legitimate script files which make up our site. I can say that there are no current indications of functioning malicious code on the site (knock wood).

As to the problem with being unable to make paragraphs, that is typically an Internet Explorer problem. It has to do with compatibility issues between Internet Explorer versions 8, 9 and 10, and many PHP or ASP based websites. Here's a simple tutorial on how to turn on/off compatibility view in Internet Explorer. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-turn-off.html

Thank you, Alan. Still receiving the warning from Norton. And I am still unable to make a paragraph even after turning on compatibility. I haven't had this problem anywhere else, and my PC is a newer one, about a year old....

I believe it has nothing to do with your PC or the site, it is a browser issue, specifically Internet Explorer versions 8, 9 & 10. I have the same issue when using the latest versions of that browser.

If the compatibility settings have no effect, I can only suggest using a browser without this known issue, such as Firefox, Chrome or Safari. All are free and easily downloaded from their respective websites.

Again, thank you, Alan. I am able to make paragraphs here today, although I haven't changed anything. Interesting.

Still continue to get the warning from Norton though. Guess I won't worry about it...
