i have been working on this for awhile, the supervisor team is rather a mess but i still want/need the job. So i got a job coach and she has been supportive. Still nervous as h**, i am up against others in my department and sometimes they don't think i do my best job. So my plan is to refresh my resume sitting at Starbucks today, i work well there, add a bunch about my latest accomplishments. Highlights are being on successful committees, networking outside the department/district and supporting my struggling families. if they don't like that then fine.

of course if i don't get it or an interview i may come back upset.

And you'll probably learn valuable lessons in the process. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Good luck, ZG.

Have any of your grant applications been successful? That would be another thing I would highlight.

Tell you what---you can go ahead and use littlebittymee for a reference. Just feel free, okay? If they call, and wanna know if you are a responsible employee----I'll tell 'em you sure are---any time something goes wrong, it seems like you are the one held responsible! Not really. Just trying to be funny. Good Luckk. Hope that helps you some.

I recently found the "Ask a Manager" website. There's ton of really good info on writing your resume and cover letter there. It might be worth a look.

thank you for the suggestions, i will check out ask a manager. i have not done any grants on my own yet, i found out about one that could pay for extra support to include children with special needs in my programs but i don't think the 2 children i have in mind are registering. i did just do a family night open to the school and hosted almost 100 people on about $15 due to collaborations with scout troops, PTA, and Americorps volunteers working at our school all year. of course i have data on it!

okay rewrote resume to cut out most teacher stuff and put some detail in the area of personal training and collaboration outside of our department/district. i wrote a very nice cover letter in my opinion, i have one staff who is a goof writer and i will have her proof it in the morning. i also put in my training and volunteer work in mediation, as far as i know the supervisors are not the best communicators as a group this year. i didn't mention using my mediation skills to stop families from beating each other up in front of the school, was supposed to just call for help apparently. i just said that mediation helps in all conflict with families, youth and colleagues.

Now we will see how i manage the waiting and possible rejection. i know i used to get down on people who quit trying, especially during the worst of the recession. But i get it. no matter how impersonal it is to send a resume off sight unseen it is still rejection.it gets to you, i already have a job and am working on my side business, but i will feel something if i don't get it. Hearing the encouragement from all of you honestly helps!

When I get a "no" (regardless of the issue) I ask myself "what skills do I have when I got a 'no' when I wanted a 'yes'?" And then I practice those skills:-)

reyes i thought that after the last time i heard that from my department. i focused more on what the supervisors would need and how i could support what i am doing with data and evidence. i don't know if it helps but we will find out

i am hoping that in the skills i need i don't have to add a** kissing

i heard some things about who else applied for this job. it sounds like i may be the only one with the complete qualifications. others have experience in our parent tuition programs but not 3 years in grant funded programming (which is a requirement). there may be one person with some background outside of her job with us so that is competition. in any case one of the other applicants started chatting me up at a training yesterday, wanting to know about how grant sites worked. (there are at least 3 different funding streams each with slightly different requirements, ) so i am feeling pretty decent about this, and i am looking into the rest of the year and how i can show what i am doing that fits the department needs
