Hi all,
How bout we do a voting poll to see how our little group compares to the national final numbers? It's anonymous.

I tried to allow multiple votes to include household but it didn't work. So you only get one vote.

For those of you voting Other, would you like to share who you're voting for?

It isn't so much “ who” as party. I vote Libertarian and always hope the person at the head of the ticket isnt too much of a crank.

Faced once again with “a bad choice between a bad man and a bad cause”, I voted for Jorgensen.

I guess that is who I voted for. I think that candidate is female? So, how progressive of us?

Yes she is. A Libertarian born in Libertyville, Illinois.

Interesting, there's less Trump votes than I thought there'd be and more Other than I thought there'd be.

Now separate question for y'all: Who do you think will WIN?

I still think: Biden by 4 points.

Don’t mean to be rude here, but I can’t imagine why you thought there would be many Trump votes.

This board has long been populated by, well, not conservatives. And that is OK! Because can’t we all get along?

And even the conservatives here don't seem very fond of Trump.

She thought you, L and Alan would vote for Trump. However, I think a third party vote is wasted but it’s yours to waste. In some states it doesn’t matter but Wisconsin is important.

She thought you, L and Alan would vote for Trump. That's a pretty specific thought to attribute to someone else. I haven't taken part in the poll yet, preferring to wait until someone publicly assumed I was one of the Trump votes. I guess I'll have to settle for you doing it for someone else. :thankyou:

I just thought there was quite a bit of defending Trump, especially from some of our male members based on some of the heated and lengthy arguments that take place here. But I'll admit that I only visit the Public Policy forum very sporadically and I rarely read the long threads in their entirety. So it's probably just the noise that I was responding to because I figured it would be about a 50/50 split or maybe 60/40 with a Biden lead. I'm also curious about the 'silent supporters' of Trump.

Recently, three people I know came out in public support of Trump and I was pretty shocked because I didn't expect it. All 3 are white females between the ages of 35-60. There's a 4th that I suspect is also a supporter but is quiet about it. Also female. The two issues that seem to sway them are the economy and abortion. I know that the one who is quiet is very religious and anti-abortion so I think the judge appointments have been key for her.

And just to clarify - I'm not placing judgment on the votes, that's why I made it anonymous. Everyone has a right to their vote. And people can have more than one point of view. I never vote third party because I do feel that it's a waste, but that's just me - practicality over ideology. And Dh and I are pretty moderate, we usually vote Democrat but would have been perfectly happy to have Mitt Romney or John McCain as president.

The only one I assumed would vote Trump was LDHL because I think I remember him saying that he was a supporter. I know that bae is not and my guess would be that Alan is multifaceted :). I wouldn't be able to peg him. But again, I'm mostly interested in the real opinions, rather than my own assumptions or guesses. I do wish I could have done multiple votes per person because there are households like Catherine's where there are split votes. I think it would have been interesting to see how that added up as a group.

I just thought there was quite a bit of defending Trump, especially from some of our male members based on some of the heated and lengthy arguments that take place here. It's interesting to hear your thoughts on that, especially since I'm one of the primary contributors routinely accused of defending and/or supporting Trump. The fact of the matter is there's been very little defending Trump in any of these discussions, although there's been quite a bit of challenging misplaced assertions. There's a difference between the two but hardly anyone rabidly anti-Trump realizes it.

I just returned from my local polling station an hour or so ago where I voted a straight Republican ticket. I think Trump is an ass but also think he's less a threat to this country than the current Democratic Party. I suspect it won't do any good but I can sleep well at night knowing I did my best.

The only one I assumed would vote Trump was LDHL because I think I remember him saying that he was a supporter.

I knew LDAHL was not a Trump supporter. Trump doesn't look enough like William Buckley, Jr. or Reagan. LDAHL is conservative enough to not want a rogue Republican--I think we have a few of those on this board, like IL. So far I'm not surprised by anyone's votes.. As for female Trump supporters, like Tradd, there are a lot of them. I'm not surprised about that either.

DH wound up not voting for Trump because he never got an absentee ballot and never registered to vote in Vermont. But tonight is going to be a rough night watching results come in. We try to keep our mouths shut, but it's not going to be easy.

I’m not that fond of a lot of stuff Trump does, but there’s no way in hell, I’d vote for Biden.

Even though my husband and I are opposite parties neither of us just votes a straight ticket. We vote for who we think is best. I have voted for 2 Republican governors and he always voted for Reid. He voted for Trump the first time and Biden this time. The last month every time he sees Trump talking stupid he yells at the tv which is something he has never done before. He is not that interested in politics so usually watches something else on election night.

A lot of people don't like Trump but are standing up for the party platform. The platform trumps Trump as it were.

The Republican Party no longer exists as the entity I once supported. So I see no reason to support their platform. Some elements of it I find positively hateful.

Our assumptions about one another show how polarized it is this election season.

I think the people on this forum are less polarized than most of the country. There’s a strong independent streak in us all. Which makes sense as we are always going against popular culture in our simple living choices, so we question things more than the average bear.

I voted for Biden.

The few I know either voted based on the abortion issue or believed ridiculous conspiracy theories. Truly cannot understand ANY woman voting for trump. Every person has their tolerance level for lewd behavior or child molestation (party buddy of Epstein). Obviously some more than others.

They don't care. I remember back in 2016, a neighbor I'm FB friends with posted that she was PROUD of her 16 year old daughter because her daughter didn't care about his antics with women. My cousin-in-law is an Evangelical Christian and the sweetest person ever and she has been posting all kinds of memes against Biden and for Trump. According to her posts, she cares about taxes/economy and the abortion issue.

I had an issue with the way the question was asked- it asked for HOUSEHOLD vote, as if individuals within a household are not allowed to differ. I voted for Biden, but I would vote for a rock if it meant Trump was out of office. A rock would certainly do less damage. I don't believe my spouse voted- we usually go together but I did a mail in vote a couple of weeks ago.

I thought the poll would allow each user more than one vote and that's why I labeled it 'household' but then found that it does not allow more than one vote per user and I can't edit the title on the poll. Maybe the mods can do so to avoid confusion.
