View Full Version : anyone else need a 'give me strength' this time of year
I am actually having a great holiday season, the first in a long time. So now that I am older I find that I cannot just participate in every snack presented to me! And I work in schools so there are a couple weeks off. I could easily sit, crochet, watch TV and snack. It is not the worst thing in the world but I would like to fit my work pants when school starts up again, plus that much snack food makes me feel gross.
Anyone else have a challenge ?
I don't keep anything snackable in the house evr as I can be a bit of a glutton (OINK!). It's too easy to snack. However, while I eat pretty healthy most of the year, I give myself license to indulge over the holidays and eat whatever I want and as much as I want (OINK! OINK!!). But once the parties and pig-a-thons are over, I stop and go back to eating healthy again. And generally will up my workouts if I gained any weight over the holidays. So maybe not keeping anything in the house will work for you too. You can pick the day and time you want to snack (i.e. I'll rent a movie and get some bad snack food to eat while watching it for just that one day for instance). Sometimes, if you don't eat snack foods all week long, you lose interest in them completely...at least for awhile.
Good ideas, I think I want to add at least 30 minutes walking every day to compensate for not walking around at work. If I go to the gym then great but at least I will be maintaining.
So far at 1:00 no snack foods and I actually remembered to eat my healthy lunch
I have been a vegan nearly 9 years. The absolute best part of it is knowing that when I'm looking at all the food at work (and as a teacher that means EVERY SINGLE DAY there is something, somewhere in that school that someone cooked or baked and brought in for people to eat,) 99% of the time I can't even consider eating it. And so it loses its power. And now, after all these years, I don't even glance at it.
Spartana--very true @ not eating junk for awhile and losing the taste for it. I have found this to be the case especially with sweets.
