View Full Version : And then there is this...
"Republican lawmakers in Tennessee sprung to action and demanded answers after confusing a mop sink recently installed in the state Capitol for a Muslim foot-washing sink."

"Tennessee, like the federal government, has a compelling state interest to protect our citizens from jihad terrorism," Matheny said at the time.
That measure would have criminalized Muslim foot-washing rituals and dietary restrictions.
Oh dear me. This is one of the examples of why the once Grand Old Party is flailing.
LOL, that's funny. Although in their haste to put together a damning story they had to combine two separate events, 2 years apart. The mop sink and the quote about protecting citizens from jihad terrorism don't have anything to do with each other.
But, this could be fun starting a thread about stupid things a politician might say and then slam their entire party for it. I'm game if that's the goal, although I might have trouble deciding which to start with. Would it be Democratic Representative Hank Johnson worrying about Guam tipping over? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjG958lZ1KI
Or how about Democratic Representative Maxine Waters declaring that sequestration will kill over 170 million jobs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8-d95SO_3g&feature=player_embedded
And wasn't it Democratic Representative Sheila Jackson Lee who wanted to see the flag we left on Mars?
Those things always make me giggle. :D
The standard tu quoque response to smug remarks about dumb things republicans say is simply "Joe Biden".

this is no surprise to me........probably one of the few breaks they've taken while trying to dismantle public education.
As good as Joe Biden is in these situations, I've still never heard anything I thought was better than Hank Johnson's concerns regarding Guam. How did the Admiral keep a straight face? Apparently Georgia is light years ahead of TN when it comes to dismantling public education. Thanks for that little flashback Alan.

I agree, that was not a simple spoken error, that was a problem in --what, exactly? Lack of oxygen to the brain, I think.
Joe Biden and other politicians have a microphone stuck in their face all the time and only the most glib will manage to avoid saying stupid things now and then.
