Check out the treasure map view. You may have to hover over satellite view for it to appear. I typed in my address and it displayed the area as it might have been 300 or 400 years ago. How fun!

Past Google "doodles" are still viewable. Just search for google doodles on the Google home page and you should find them. I don't know if that will include the pirate map view, but it can't cost more than a few minutes to look. :)
