Far from it! I am an environmental consultant. I admit to being pretty surprised at the results. But hey, it's nice to discover heretofore unknown talents at my advanced age. ;) Now, what to do with my new talent?

I found it too hard to see (I've got macular degeneration) to even complete the first row.....and I work with color every day in the glass studio.
I got a 30, with all of my errors in the middle where perception is most likely all muddled. Not horrible, but I am an artist and designer. This terrible score will be our secret, yes?
63 Apparently I can not see the differences in pinks.

I'm color blind.
I got a 99- thinking I am not so good at seeing color! I am 64- don't know if that makes a difference.
10, which appears above average. My wife would argue otherwise.
That was fun! I honestly thought I would get a perfect score, but only got a 27.
It was really interesting to do the test. It was sort of like doing jigsaw puzzles and becoming aware of the slightest color difference. It makes me feel like I'm using a different area of my brain than I'm used to.
My problem was mostly in the blue/purple range, which is my favorite color range!

Wow treehugger! That's impressive. Are you in a profession that uses the ability to see slight variations in colors?
What does the "Highest score for your gender and age range" mean? I don't understand that number, since it isn't really explained.

I can't accept that I only got a 27. I'm going to try again.
I got a sixteen. I've taken it before and scored higher, but I was more careful this time. I always enjoyed color exercises in art classes.
I started out thinking it was going from dark to light, or visa versa, but its more of mild hue changes.
When I thought I was done with a row, I would sit back and let my eyes move across the row, and it would feel right. But I guess it wasn't always, since my score wasn't perfect.
What I found strange was if a color was farther away from the beginning or end color, it looked unlike those colors. But when I would put them right next to it, they seemed to change their color to match.
Sometimes, if I sort of let my eyes relax and almost be crossed, I can see slight variations more.
I'm getting really anal about this.:laff:
I got a 278. Higher is better, right? :0!
That was interesting, thanks for posting the link. My score was a 14 and as an artist that LOVES color that made me feel better about some of the color choices I make.
Although many of my color choices are really about which material is on sale, which material feels best to work with or it's the only one in the size I need and the piece is designed from there.
In the end it won't be about what color I see, it's the color the customer sees =)

Cathy, I took color and design in college and you are right on the money. When you put a certain color next to different other colors it makes them look different even though they are not!
44 so at least I'm average. I think if they did greys I'd have a much harder time. I have a hard time driving at night as I can't see contrasts well enough in the dark. Everything looks the same shade of grey. If only the stupid city would paint white or yellow lines.
22 is my best score. :(
I ran this test earlier today but only got through one color bar. I didn't know that the test resets when you check the score and it will not singly score just one of the color bars.

That's much better than I expected. My wife has been telling me I was practically color blind for years.

OK I guess? But I just remembered ... I'm wearing my reading glasses that have a special coating for "glare", so colors look different with them on. I'll have to take the test again ...
Re-took the test without my glasses and scored 8. Sounds pretty good to me.

I took my glasses off and on during the test, and it seemed to help, to get a "second opinion". I would check and recheck with them both on and off.

That's what the gf tells me too. I'm still trying to figure out if it's a compliment or not (she got a 16, then a 0 on second attempt).
I scored a 58. My browns/pinks and blue/greens are where I had the most trouble. Now I'm having trouble just seeing THIS screen!

Tiam.......you're supposed to put the closest matching colors in the right progression, based on the first and last color cubes (since they are fixed). What I do is start by lining up the colors that are closest to the first cube, and then the last cube, and work from there. Take one cube at a time, and put it next to another one, where you think it comes closest to the color of that previous cube. It doesn't go from light to dark or dark to light, you just follow the previous cube's color in order to line them up.

I surprised myself with a score of 8. Female 50-59. And I'm the one that got disgusted with myself over my choice of paint colors for the walls in our house (I would THINK I had the perfect color picked out, only to decide later that I was WAY off the hue I was wanting), to the point where I now make DH do all the paint color-matching.
Maybe I need to take the job back from him?.....

Blackdog Lin.......I picked an antique white for our bedroom walls, but when it was on the wall, it looked soooooo pink to me! But nobody else could see any pink in it. Its sort of like having to pick out a carpet for a room with just a tiny swatch.......I think colors can easily change depending on lots of variables.
Took off my glasses and was able to score a 34- Who would have thought that the HD, UHV on them would make a difference. I also think being told NOT light to dark but matching to matching helped. I became a little obsessive! But I will settle now for 34. Thanks for the link.
Hadn't even thought about the antireflective coating on my glasses. I just knew that it helped to take them off to get a slightly different perspective on the colors! Maybe I should take it again with my glasses off for the whole thing.

CathyA: yeah. I intensely dislike pastels. And pink to me is the worst of the worst. So what color do you think I ended up with when repainting our bedroom?
It was supposed to be a peachy beige. That was when I started making DH pick out paint colors. :)

Got 10 the first time and a perfect score the next:-) I actually wonder if this is why I have so much trouble picking out paint colors. I notice the slightest difference in hues where the rest of my family thinks they all look the same.

This reminds me of the last house that my mom owned. Whenever I would refer to it as blue she would try and correct me and say that it was gray. We even argued about it a few times. I saw it as a light grayish-blue but definitely a shade of blue. It still comes up occasionally, with her insisting that it was gray and me insisting that it was blue.
Another time, my car broke down at night and I got a ride with a guy I knew to the auto parts store. I complained about the purple-tinted headlights of a car approaching us (they were really bright) and he was like, no, those are white. I insisted they were purple and he insisted they were white, without any purple tint. It got him curious so he asked me what color the numbers on his radio display were. He said they were blue and I told him they were bluish-green. He didn't think they looked greenish at all. Looks like our color perception was rather different.
It's pretty interesting stuff. I wonder a lot how the world must look like from others' perceptions.
I think we can train ourselves to notice the differences more. I can't believe how many shades there are to plain "white". When we put on a new addition about 16 years ago, and I had to pick out tubs, toilets, marble, paint, etc., I couldn't believe it. But through that, I did become more aware of slight differences. The kind of light you are in makes a big difference too.
