Our dog passed away today...

Our dogs have always meant so much to us since we didn't have children. Our last dog, Nellie, passed away today unexpectedly. I was with her until the very end. She was having small seizures and was toward the end in pain, but it didn't last long. I am so glad she didn't have a long-drawn out illness. She did have cognitive dysfunction disorder which is like Alzheimer's, but she wasn't so bad from it, she just paced a lot in the house. We had her to the vet recently and they checked all of her organs and said she was fine. She had, had a similar episode like the one today, but the vet didn't think too much of it, he was very thorough too. That is why it was so shocking. I had her outside and brought her in and just happened. We will really miss her badly....Chris

I'm sorry to hear this too. As I posted a couple of days ago, I lost a cat that was killed by some neighborhood dogs back in 2007.....So I know what it is like to lose a pet suddenly. This cat had such personality and was my favorite cat of all I'd ever had so it was hard. Good thing I called off work the day it happened, as if I had gone in serving in the upscale hotel I worked at at the time (my first layoff due to the economic meltdown) and a guest had complained about something trivial I might very well have lost it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's been a few years since I lost my dearly loved dog, but I remember the pain like it was yesterday.

I think we will meet up again with our pets in the next life. In the meantime I think we feel their spirits around us....

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this Chris. At least Nellie wasn't suffering. My animal communicator says that at some point their bodies just don't serve them anymore and they leave, either with or without our help. She gave you a great gift by leaving on her own.

The emptiness will remain for some time, but you'll be able to smile through your tears (I'm teary just thinking about my late Gemma dog). Nellie was such a healthy dog; you did a great job taking care of her.
