LOL. I totally get it and thanks for the chuckle.

Charlie Kirk 1993-2025
it sucks
The far edges of both sides need to shut the f up.
Hotel prices have gotten insane. Wanted to do one night at the Von Trapp Family lodge because wanted to show the grandchildren where the Von Trapp family ended up after they fled Austria, and one night would be $810 with taxes and fees.
Maybe we'll go another time and just visit the lodge and go to the pastry shop and tour it and not stay there.
Ban Guns in the hands of Demmmacratz NOW. Yup.
okay----i can certainly relate to that---but yeah----i consider the radical element of the far, far Right to be those danged "Conspiracy Buffs". Every catastrophic event always has a hidden cause, enabled by a network of like-minded crackpots. Yup. They all need to take their prescribed dose of lithium or whatever, to reduce their paranoid delusions. <<okay; i'm not a mental-health professional. But if i were one, that is what i would recommend. Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.
I follow a handful of legacy mainstream news sources fairly closely which some would say are liberal. I'd never heard of the guy. That might say something about how social media, which I don't use, is shaping political opinions in a major way.
I see DJT has assumed it was someone from the radical left, and in a position of leadership and in an effort to quell the divisions has said, "...and we just have to beat the hell out of them."
I can see how you’ve never heard of Charlie Kirk. He wasnt high on my radar, that’s for sure, but I did know of him as the “ Change my Mind” guy on college campuses. He was important to people a lot younger than us, so the age factor has something to do with his noteriety.
okay----they've caught the shooter. Dad's a cop, and turned him in; a logical, rational decision on his part. News media said Kirk was struck by one round of 30.06. The same ammo that killed MLK in '68. News media reported the rifle recovered from the grassy knoll--er, wooded area is a vintage bolt-action Mauser. Yes, Mausers can be converted to 30.06 by a gunsmith, but we will see. Doncha remember how the Dallas police spokesman misidentified Oswalds' rifle as a Mauser, when it was in fact a Carcano? I see a connection, there. Maybe the alleged shooter is just a patsy. Yup. Anyway, I can just hear the crackpot conspiracy buffs spinning all kinds of yarns....
Tradd, you got a problem here sis? This affecting you?

okay---here's the home where the alleged assassin of Kirk allegedly lived. Looka the Dodge Challenger in the driveway, which is a red flag. So anyway---what architectural style is the home, anyhow? Faux, what is your opinion? (see photo)What could be done to enhance curb appeal?Attachment 6507
I was really impressed with Gov. Spencer Cox's plea this morning. So refreshing for a politician these days to play the role of peacemaker rather than provocateur.
I’ve been happy with many reactions on the “other “political side and I’m not going to be seeking out those that would make me unhappy. . Most reasonable people are horrified and/or saddened by this assassination and there’s no point in analyzing it beyond that.
IL: Please clarify your comment by defining "reasonable poop people." I like to think I am reasonable, but I personally have never identified as a poop person.
You won’t believe this, but it was another error of my text editor. Honest to God I need to slow down and read the thing before it posts. But I swear to you, I will put in a word and it’s correct and then I hit send, and somewhere in that interim the text editor changes it.
apologies for “ poop people” the word Poop snuck in there. Sorry!!! And I definitely do not
want “poop people “anywhere near a thread about Charlie Kirk, it is not a way to honor him. He did not insult people in his discussions with them.
My rant du jour is about AI and how it has affected simple searches. It seems to be adding a layer between me and the information I am seeking. I was doing a genealogical search for a historical property we are touring next week and put in some related names, and instead of giving me some hits the way it used to, it gave me a whole spiel about how to do genealogical research. I went back on Ancestry and found more information, but it used to be I could pull up interesting non-Ancestry sources really quickly and now it gives me AI garbage.
Here’s how to remove AI from Google searches. I definitely know what you mean. I hate it.
https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-...search-results
I have removed AI from my search results, and I found it well worth the effort.
I also have added the Fluffbuster extension on FB, and it is amazingly effective at filtering out the crap of ads, suggested posts, etc. but it only works for laptops or desktops, and I know that most people view FB on their phones. On the rare occasion that I view FB on my phone, I am amazed at how much more obnoxious the experience is. It's like night and day.
Insideous Chinese marketers!
I pay more attention to clothes these days so I click on clothing sites. There are way too many Chinese fashion sites that display images of clothing I would like to buy, but they are have universally VERY poor customer service, shipments take forever to get here, return policy is practically nonexistent or else you have to pay to ship it back to China. And customer services never answers complaints.
So I am on the alert anymore, but this website is so slick at mimicking the kind of clothing I would buy, I had to look twice. It is called “Sarah & Kate Charleston” . The hints that caused me to check out reviews on Reddit were clothes did not give fabric content. That was the big tip off, but then everything seemed to cost $49. That is a red flag because the Chinese companies I see price their stuff at $39. I suppose this $10 increase covers tariffs?
anyway, the Chinamen are getting more clever at marketing. The ladies pictured as Sarah and Kate are fake, fake fake.

You might want to try Vermont Country Store; I think their clothes are made in the USA.
I think some of the women's clothing in VT Country Store has a real "Little House on the Prairie" vibe, too many ruffles for my taste. However, they do seem to carry decent quality stuff, and I've bought flannel PJs for Mom, and recently a t-shirt and bathrobe for DH from them.
I'm a tough fit, and I only order clothes online if I'm really confident that I know how the brand fits me, because the odds are not in my favor. I'll take a chance with LL Bean sometimes, because I get free shipping and free return shipping with my LLB credit card. I've had some really good luck buying specific clothing items on eBay, either getting certain items/brands at a discount (e.g. Jess & Jane tops), or replacing very specific items that I can no longer buy regular retail (e.g. Soft Surrounding bathrobes that have been discontinued). I can set up searches and get e-mail alerts when something I'm seeking appears for sale (e.g. LLB Petite XS quilted sweatshirts).
I used to get their mail order catalogue and would order thimbles for my collection through them. It was great fun.
Vermont Country Store is a great place to visit if you're ever up this way! The Weston one was a regular annual stop on our Vermont vacations.
Continuing on with my somewhat dissatisfied mode: After the not so great play, we went out for a mediocre meal at a nearby tavern, and we paid a price that was equivalent to about a week's worth of groceries. That is not too unusual these days though, and it's not the reason for my rant. Rather, I am ranting about the family in the next booth with their overexuberant, ill-behaved little monsters. I'm not terribly fond of small kids, but I feel like I've mellowed as I've gotten older, and although they were making a lot of noise and there was even a baby crying at one point, I was pretty chill about it. However, towards the end of out meal, there were two young ones standing and jumping up and down on the booth bench and looking over at us. As we were leaving, an adult male in the booth said "sorry." My too-nice sister said "that's OK," but I gave him my best dirty look, because seriously, if your kids can't behave any better than that, they don't belong in a restaurant. I understand that kids sometimes act up, but if you can't control their behavior in public, you should take them to Chucky's Cheese's or McDonald's.
Exits grouch old lady mode. End of rant.
here’s another one that could be a rant or a rave, but because it pissed me off I’m gonna put it in the rant thread.
how many technical problems are gonna land in my lap on a daily basis? I hate my phone and today I solved one of the things I hate about it.
when someone makes a phone call to me the ring only last for two rings. I guess that’s about 10 seconds. I can never get my phone unlocked in time to talk to the person. Fortunately, much of the time I’m using an iPad and those calls also display on my iPad and I can answer them fairly quickly..
anyway, today, I decided I would learn how to extend the time the phone rings before it goes to voicemail.
I was successful in the end (rave) but my God it is so complicated. ( rant.) I had to talk to ChatGPT in multiple conversations. Chat told me to do one thing. That didn’t work. Chat then said well then try this method. That method required that I learn how to do something on the keypad. Finally, it did work.
So now my rings last 30 seconds before it goes to voicemail…end rave/ rant.
