that's a great idea! And then I'll be safe if I fall into a well, to boot, lol
my father watches Pit Bulls and Parolees with him and I love being a fly on the wall, my dad talks to him about the dogs and potential owners as if Buddy is a person. "What do you think, Bud? I'm iffy on that family."
MY smart little Jack Russell, raving about her because she is learning new tricks. Running through a fabric Tube now. Lots of treats to get her to the other side. Riding very well in bike basket now in the basement and will be ready to hit the open road come spring!
aww, love the bike basket idea
It is a beautiful day here. It is almost 50 and the sun is shining! I know it is too early to say "spring has sprung" but it sure feels like it. Totally enjoying the day!
how cool is that! my kids had that movie, not sure I remember most of it but what part did she play?
last week we had a -20 windchill, we were getting in the car and saw the largest, fattest robin we've ever seen. I kept saying it could not possible be a robin, but it was. I hope they are going to be ok because the weather keeps going from bone chilling cold to 50 degrees
I'm leaving my somewhat prestigious, beautiful, but dull workplace for the greener pastures of the messy but fun public library. I'll be a substitute, so very flexible hours. I'm really looking forward to it!
(Though writing my resignation letter will be difficult.)
Change is good :)
I am allowed to drive in a 5 mile radius when there is no traffic, I have normal vital signs and no dizziness. Hooray, I can get to DD's, the grocery, drugstore and the library. My father was supposed to ride with me to make sure my doc's assessment was correct. He totally bailed and sent me to my next MD appt 10 miles away in traffic, grrrr. But I did it. I am not going that far again because if I have an accident and my medical record says I'm only allowed to drive 5 miles, I am screwed, we could lose this house and someone could get hurt. But finally some freedom!
I kind of figured it would still be a cut and dry no. I am surprised at the yes but with limits because just because I am near home, I can still have an accident. I think that part of her rational was about my forgetfulness and that I get lost in my own development. IDK her thinking, I'm just gonna go nice and slow and safely.
I wondered about that because I drive within that distance at low-traffic times of day, and I notice that low traffic can change to the traffic from hell in about two minutes' time. But I'm very glad you have a bit more freedom!
At your next visit could you ask to have it increased to 10 miles, so you could "legally " drive to appointments? That would give you a little more freedom. I would probably even say "so I could be legal" coming here...." I think they just pick a number and maybe he would be willing to pick a little bigger one.
Edited to add: I am very inspired by the grace in which you appear to handle a not great situation. Hang in there, dear.
I don't have to see her again until Oct, I plan to ask then unless it's going so great I think I can go further sooner.
thanks for saying that because most of the time I feel like a big ol' whiner
thank you, iris lilies
The flowers are popping through! I love spring in MI.
I volunteer doing migrating birds counts in the springtime. Our station is a slightly isolated place in the foothills that requires a half mile hike. It's an interesting project and we usually get a few visitors who come to watch or help. Today, an older couple and their son and daughter in law spent a couple of hours. Turns out they are a professional performing group of singers. At a slow time they gathered together and sang the old stand-by, "I'll Fly Away", acappella. If your not familiar with it, it's an old spiritual song or hymn that's been adopted by blue-grass and country groups. Not the best acoustics, but it sounded appropriate and nice.
that is a really cool experience to have had, bet you weren't expecting something like that
Cherries!!!
Rails to Trails Bike paths

Lovely
Still raving about my Garmin VivoActive watch.
He lost that part of it.
The railroad came through his farm in the 1880's and the deed said that the land would revert back to the farmer if the railroad was abandoned. When the railroad gave up that section of rail, the local government took over the line and made it into a bike trail. So, that was wrong but typical of government.
Some people who use the bike trail dont stay on the trail. They cut across his land, open gates, cows escape, etc. Not a good scene.
I got 11 out of 12 arrows in the bulls eye last night :)
impressive!
I got a call from a company that knew about my genetic testing. My doctor had said the lab would call if it was over $100, they never did so I did not know I had a huge problem looming. The company said they had spoken with my insurance company, who would cover 60% so I would "only" owe 23k! OMG! Because of my income, this company will pick up 95% of the co-pay, I will owe $200. Thank God for this group. Boo to the doctor for not explaining this test costs over 50k before having me do it. She had to know, genetic testing is what she does. I am so grateful.
Birds waking up in the early dawn, my sunroom on second floor at tree level so I can be with them.
That is a mighty fine guitar, WilliamSmith!
A quick story about it. I have been playing an electric guitar that belonged to my dad. Unfortunately the tailpiece and bridge have weakened over time and needed repair. I have to send it back to the Gibson factory in Nashville for repairs. I haven't bought a guitar for 21 years. So this Gibson SG seemed like just the solution. She is wonderful to hold. A work of art.
It's a lovely day here, even if no rain means I have to do yard work.
We're having a real estate boom in the PNW, as many have noted. I'm getting letters from strangers wanting to buy my house. Who knows? Maybe one of these days I'll bite.
Got the second of 2 crowns finished today and paid off the balance of what my dental insurance didn't cover. Feels good to get that all done prior to retirement next year.
Just had to rave about my fav. local baker who had some white chocolate fruit cookies. I made the trip back to ask her what the fantastic fruit was in the cookies. It was cherries. Yummy sweet and a little tart, texture kind of like a sweet date, not like a raisin but better. Best part of the cookie.
Once again My dogs!!
