Home made chicken and dumplings.
Vegetable soup and sardines on sourdough bread.
More leftovers and, hopefully, finishing them up tonight - LOL.
Turkey chili tonight
Husband is making a big pot of vegetable soup, and we'll heat up garlic bread. It's so cold in the house!
Going out for a Friday fish fry tonight to celebrate my birthday later in the week. I made a fruit tart ... first one ever ... raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. Hope it tastes as good as it looks! Had an abundance of berries to use up.
The tart sounds wonderful, Frugal-One.
Thank you! The tart was too good. We ate half of it. Oooops
Happy early birthday, frugal-one. And congrats on the tart!
Thanks for the well wishes! I recently purchased "The Clueless Baker" Learning to Bake from Scratch by Evelyn Raab (2013). I made the tart from this book. I got the book from the library and kept marking recipes I wanted to try that I just had to purchase. There are basic recipes, as well as, a few that I wouldn't normally try but after looking at the ingredients and directions I may... for example homemade strudel. Plan on taking book to Texas since I know there will be some potlucks.
Your tart sounds mouth-watering!
I'm planning a focaccia bread pizza (several kinds of cheese, chopped garlic, olives, pepperoni, and salami), if I get around to it.
Well, I just had a good breakfast: I had leftover quinoa, and warmed it up and put it in a bowl with fresh wilted spinach from our CSA, with a poached egg on top. It was really good, and easy! I've found that quinoa does well in the reheating of it.
Busy day, so I had prepped the crockpot with chicken stew. Will make some biscuits to go with it.
I am going to cobble together a Moroccan spiced chickpea stew with chard and sweet potatoes served over whole wheat couscous. My most prolific crop was chard so I keep trying new things.
I still haven't tried Moroccan food, for some reason.
What I've tried of it (chermoula etc.) only makes me want to try more, very interesting cuisine. But it's intimidating in a way say greek or italian food is not. It usually uses a longer list of ingredients per recipe, some of which may be harder to find, and it's like "oh no, I need to go out and buy a tangine to do it right ... otherwise I'm not doing it right am I?" And well I am NOT going to go out and buy a tangine! But if I can start with a pot which I already have ....
Sitting on a restaurant floor is intimidating to me. >8) I just think of chicken, rice, raisins, but I looked at a couple of recipes, and there are spices--most of which I have. I definitely don't need a special pot, though.
I did a bad thing and ordered the NY Times Cooking recipe website when it was half-price the other day - $2.50 a month. I plan to do a lot of cooking this winter and I usually like their recipes so will try it for a few months.
Dinner tonight will be steam broccoli and baked chicken thighs! LOL.
We had bratwurst in sauerkraut. 2 nights worth!! Ah, and corn! Fresh! Probably the last of the year.
The NYT site looks good--I love and use Plan to Eat--it is SO EASY to import recipes from anywhere--you basically just click on the URL and the website formats it and files it into the program. Every time I go through the "subscriptions to cut" list, I never cut Plan to Eat. https://www.plantoeat.com/tour/onlin...BoCImEQAvD_BwE
Klunick: I want to thank you again for the home-made egg Mcmuffin suggestion. We've had it for dinner several times including last night. It's fast, easy and delicious!
We had Beef Stew, which Hubby made. I served up sale baguette with oliveoil and balsamic vinegar dipping sauce. And I just pulled hm 2 bite brownies from the oven for dessert.
Cooked squash today, so tonight's dinner will be spaghetti squash with crushed tomatoes. Also roasted two North Georgia Candy Roaster squash that I'm going to make soup out of for tomorrow. Never had it before so fingers-crossed!
Tonight’s supper was hm chicken Caesar salad with lemon loaf for dessert.
Scottish mince & tatties.
Chicken tacos with LO roast chicken, home-made salsa verde, lettuce and tomatoes from the share. And cheese. Possibly also green bean salad or something, haven’t decided.
Salsa is made, chicken is shredded. Cheese, lettuce and tomatoes to prep, etc.
Cleaning out the freezer... a hodgepodge of fish fillets, etc. plus a salad and sweet corn. Was actually pretty good
Chinese sausages (Kam Yen Jan brand) with stir-fried peppers and onions.
The sausages contain soy sauce and sugar, and have a distinctive flavor.
Last night was curried sweet potatoes, mango and - - wait for it - - chicken thighs! :)
Made the soup out of the North Georgia Candy Roaster squash and it turned out very well! That, along with some hm sourdough bread.
