Rewatched season 1 of the Pitt, which starts up again January 8.
Where did you watch it?

Putting this here because we don't have a "What are you listening to" thread. I know we have some fans here of Robin Kimmerer. The Wild Ones recently hosted a Zoom presentation by Doug Tallamy that was excellent, so I signed up for their mailing list. There's a free Zoom webinar on 1/21/26 featuring Robin Kimmerer and Esther Bonney: https://wildones.org/conversation-wi...esther-bonney/
Just finished Pro Bono, a KDrama where a promising judge on the track to be the next Supreme Court Justice is caught in a scandal and resigns. He becomes the head of the pro bono department of the largest law firm in South Korea. The cases vary from property disputes to helping a refugee fight a powerful politician, he comes into conflict with the firm's partners while investigating the allegations against him. Exciting legal drama, we planned to only watch an episode a day, and ended up binging the last four episodes over the weekend.
I peruse the Golden Globe nominees and winners for films and television product.
I have seen none of this films. None. I have desire to see none of the films.
There are a couple of the TV dramas I’m interested in, but they’re not on any of the services I subscribe to. Apparently Netflix is no longer dominating these awards. There was one drama with Robin Wright that I thought might be OK, then I pulled it up and saw that I had already viewed it! It was completely forgettable and was rather stupid.
okay-----i been sitting here, re-watching news clips of fanaticrat white females scrimmaging with ICE agents in MPLS. So yeah---who needs futbol or ice hockey? Ha. Yup.
What am I watching? On TV? Nearly nothing. We haven't had it on in days. Since the last football game I imagine.
What I HAVE been watching is a woman's YouTube channel. She might be interesting to those of you who used to follow Rhonda Hetzel on Down-to-Earth. This woman's name is Marion and her two channels are Marion's World and Marion's Garden.
She lives in the far north of England. On MW she mostly focuses on her sewing, knitting and embroidery projects. She thrifts most all her materials or up cycles what she has. She made her own yardage from thrifted dresses and blouses and makes new garments. She embroiders and paints really well. Look also for her videos about her phenology wheel.
The things she does in her small garden are inspiring, partly because she accomplishes so much and she's about my age and out of shape too. She's very soft-spoken and has a wonderful, lovely accent. I just love when she says something is "bonnie!"
So, if you're tired of doomscrolling, visit Marion. You will feel happier.
Pinkytoe, I watched the Landman trailer and that looks pretty cool. My sil is from Houston and her dad was an oil man, just like in the show--I think the rehearsal dinner might have been at the Petroleum Club or something like that, big deal, lotsa cash, and her stepfather told a dirty joke and absolutely freaked out my mother. Very Texas.
Landman is fantastic. Billie Bob Thornton is the most "real" character I have seen in a long time. The part was made for him. We are going to go back and watch Goliath which also starred him as the main character. Even watched Bad Santa I and II, where he is the Santa, although they are so so bad that I cannot recommend.
The Pitt is so good we are going to rewatch ER. I think the only sets used are inside and right outside the ER.
I did that, Sweetana, watched all of ER. Somebody said they should have called The Pitt "CartER"!
okay---i been seriously thinking about re-watching the 70's sarco-comedy "High Anxiety", which has the producer(Mel Brooks--see photo) getting credit for lead actor. Plus, a gal from iwah as a nurse. but the most memorable was officer levitt from Barney Miller, doing the "i got it, i got it, i ain't got it" schtick. he shoulda got an academy award. But yeah---brooks is 99, but hopefully he will make another insanity film---"High Anxiety II" which concerns the dysfunctional and deeply disturbed Meathead Family. Premise: the Daddy is/was a loud-mouthed, know-it-all obnoxious hollyweird fanaticrat(part 1), and the wayward sonny boy was/is a drug-crazed psycho killer who ended up in a nut house(part 2). That should be a good one. A lotta laughs. it prolly would get even more oscar nominations than "cuckoos nest" Yup.Attachment 6701
You people convinced me to buy season one of Landman. I agree, it’s really good. It doesn’t seem to be getting weak after three episodes. Billy Bob Thornton looks good for his age, he’s 70 years old. He’s looked pretty much the same for the past 30 years. Who would’ve thought this guy would age well? His performance is top notch. Dialogue and storyline is pretty good.
I did not like Goliath all that much, I thought it got fairly stupid in the middle of the season. I watched it and I abandoned it.
If you want a really really good dramatic series about a ne’er do well attorney, find the Australian show Rake. Season 1 is best but it goes for a few seasons and is very entertaining. It is an ironic drama with great characters and smart plotting. The show’s total arc is good.
In season one the Reiki attorney takes low level problematic cases because he’s cheap, and somehow turns them into wins, and not because he’s always so clever. That where the clever writing comes in.
Rogar: Sister and I are finishing up a two-night getaway in Portland ME, and we watched the Milagro Beanfield Wars movie last night. It was a fun movie and we both enjoyed it, so thanks for the recommendation. The pig was adorable.
Glad it wasn't a disappointment. The old man was a pretty adorable character, too.
I just watched The Straight Story. Is from maybe the same era and directed by David Lynch about the older brother who drives a riding lawnmower to his ailing brothers house 500 miles away. Based on a true story. I'd seen it a long time ago, but fortunately had forgotten much of it. It sort of makes one appreciate real film before computer generated imagery with the fuzzy backgrounds and dark shadowy settings.
Can't remember if I already posted this or not, so - sorry if I'm repeating.
Started watched the Doc Martin series. Up to season 3.
DH and I loved The Straight Story becuase much of it was filmed in Iowa in DH’s area. And we know old farmer guys like that. The beautiful leisurely pace of that film, the old guy slowly rolling along in his garden tractor, was charming.
Our neighbor across the street uses a garden tractor to get around, he doesn’t have a license to drive an automobile.
Last night we watched the movie Mudbound, based on the book by Hilary Jordan. I really liked it for the story line, the setting, the characters.
Who is watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, and who watches just for the commercials and/or halftime show?
I am watching because SEAHAWKS, baby!
The Rams are out so that is a good thing.
Otherwise, I dont care.
I have no interest in the Superbowl, halftime show or commercials even. I should probably check out Bad Bunny on YouTube or something to see what all the fuss is about.
I'm hoping to find a way to watch the Super Bowl. Football and Nascar are pretty much the biggest things I miss not having "regular" or pay-for tv.
Thank you! And now on to baseball! Mariners vs Red Sox on June 20.
DH and I went to a really fun local play yesterday, "The guy Who Didn't Like Musicals." A meteor crashes to earth, and people's brains become infected so that they spontaneously burst into song and dance, as though they are in a musical. Our hero is Paul, The Guy, who says that seeing "Mama Mia" would be his personal idea of hell. I like our little local theater company.
In keeping with my perfect record, I once again did not watch the Superbowl. I was not being deliberately ironic, but it's kind of funny that I happened to spend the evening reading my current book, Solito by Javier Zamora.
I skimmed the Bad Bunny half time show of last night’s Superbowl and it was a fun show, upbeat and lively. So much better than the previous rap/ghetto/crotch grabbing displays of yore. It was all in Spanish.
later today I’ll seek out the best video ads from the Super Bowl. I’m always interested to see what Anheuser Bush puts out and does it include Clydesdales.
okay----i take breaks to sit-n-watch coverage of updates and developments in the Nancy Guthrie case. But yeah---i'd never HEARD o' Savannah Guthrie, before. If youda asked me who was on the Today Sho0w, Ida guessed Dave Garroway and Frank Blair, last time i watched it. So anyway---whoever abducted that little old lady is one sick person. Yup. Can't wait ta see what Dr Grande hasta say about them.
i’ve never heard of Savanna Guthrie either. I don’t know the Talking Heads on network news because I haven’t watched network news in 40-50 years.
but you wouldn’t really want your mother kidnapped because then you’d have so much worry about her, like when your cat gets out and disappears and you don’t know where he is. That is the worst thing, not knowing where they are. The JD Vance option is better.
My kids always accuse me of saying, "YOU never HEARD OF [fill in the blank]???" so I won't be obnoxious about it but I'm surprised that the three of you didn't know of Savannah Guthrie. I guess if you never watch the Today Show there's no reason to. Since this happened, DH has commented how amazing it is, how much news coverage this is getting. I think it's the kind of human interest story that people like to follow. Like the Jessica McClure story.
