DH and I went to a really fun local play yesterday, "The guy Who Didn't Like Musicals." A meteor crashes to earth, and people's brains become infected so that they spontaneously burst into song and dance, as though they are in a musical. Our hero is Paul, The Guy, who says that seeing "Mama Mia" would be his personal idea of hell. I like our little local theater company.

In keeping with my perfect record, I once again did not watch the Superbowl. I was not being deliberately ironic, but it's kind of funny that I happened to spend the evening reading my current book, Solito by Javier Zamora.

I skimmed the Bad Bunny half time show of last night’s Superbowl and it was a fun show, upbeat and lively. So much better than the previous rap/ghetto/crotch grabbing displays of yore. It was all in Spanish.

later today I’ll seek out the best video ads from the Super Bowl. I’m always interested to see what Anheuser Bush puts out and does it include Clydesdales.

I think you'll like their commercial for this year--I did, but then, I'm sentimental...

The Clydesdale ads are always sentimental treacle but they’re one of only a few things I allow myself to become verklempt over.

This 2026 ad was ok, but they have made better ones.

okay----i take breaks to sit-n-watch coverage of updates and developments in the Nancy Guthrie case. But yeah---i'd never HEARD o' Savannah Guthrie, before. If youda asked me who was on the Today Sho0w, Ida guessed Dave Garroway and Frank Blair, last time i watched it. So anyway---whoever abducted that little old lady is one sick person. Yup. Can't wait ta see what Dr Grande hasta say about them.

I had never heard of Savannah either. I wish someone would kidnap my mother, lol. Just kidding, well maybe not entirely.

i’ve never heard of Savanna Guthrie either. I don’t know the Talking Heads on network news because I haven’t watched network news in 40-50 years.

but you wouldn’t really want your mother kidnapped because then you’d have so much worry about her, like when your cat gets out and disappears and you don’t know where he is. That is the worst thing, not knowing where they are. The JD Vance option is better.

My kids always accuse me of saying, "YOU never HEARD OF [fill in the blank]???" so I won't be obnoxious about it but I'm surprised that the three of you didn't know of Savannah Guthrie. I guess if you never watch the Today Show there's no reason to. Since this happened, DH has commented how amazing it is, how much news coverage this is getting. I think it's the kind of human interest story that people like to follow. Like the Jessica McClure story.
