I'm getting excited for the party Im throwing for former co-workers. It will be so much fun to see all the old faces. Virtually none of them work there anymore so it will be good to hear what they are doing. And it's forcing me to come back out of my shell. Being on disability so long is not great for an introvert. I'm a little nervous about spending the money but it's worth it. I'm just contributing chili, corn bread, I'll probably pick up an extra dessert just in case, beer, wine and paper goods. I priced out that Black Box wine that isn't supposed to be horrible at BJs for $15 a box. I know I have paper goods in the basement hoard. They were in my corner of boxes that since got decimated so it may take a good long time to find but they are there somewhere, lol. Actually, lol NOT.

I have two raves - the first one was that I was gifted a beautiful, new looking crock pot by two women RV'ers that came into the gallery! We got to talking, and I told them I was living in the back with no real kitchen and that I had just bought an electric frying pan and how it had made a huge difference in the quality of my life. They said they had just upgraded to a different crock pot and would I like their old one! A win-win for all, they de-cluttered their RV and I can now make stews and spaghetti sauces! So now I have a rice-cooker, an electric frying pan, a crock pot, a toaster, and a coffee maker! A lot of things, but until I get an actual kitchen built I am all set up!

My second rave is that I slept 8.5 hours last night, all the way through, no waking up in the middle and no alarm clock! I forgot how great that feels!

Kind of a generic rave. I'm at the tail end of a 2 week long respiratory illness, not severe, just fatiguing with my body working to fight off a cough/cold. I took some time off work at first but last week I basically powered through and am now enjoying doing nothing for a few days so I can really rest.
But it all made me think of those millions of workers out there who may not have a paid sick day, or who have little paid sick time, and have to go to work when they are just not feeling all that well. (and a disclaimer here that I do not mean it's a good idea to go to work when you are contagious) I know of a number of people who did their jobs while fighting hormonal headaches, or back pain, or colds and coughs, etc. and they managed to keep going because of a strong worth ethic and knowing others were counting on them. Kudos.

I've had cold symptoms for 3 weeks, sore throat, cough, sinus stuff, etc. Not wanting to abuse antibiotics, I waited it out. Well, that was stupid because it just kept getting worse and worse. I finally saw my doc Fri, got some penicillin and feel so much better finally. I slept 15 hrs last night!

Found a $20 bill in a pocket of a pair of my jeans - no idea why it was there but found money is always great!

Big yum to my free-to-me new crock pot of turkey chili! The freezer is stocked with several portions for later use, since cooking in my tiny home with no kitchen is kind of a PITA. After almost two months, I think I am finally getting some semblance of grocery shopping-cooking-meal time organization down

Honestly, I want to smack my marijuana and drug smoking neighbors right now! Neither are legal here and I am tired of having a home filled with the stench from this stuff.

And that's one of many reasons I'm concerned about living in a condo again. I don't indulge often, but don't want to worry about someone else's allergies or sensitivity to smoke.

Good golly, now the job applications I filled out are demanding the references personal email addresses - so now I have to contact everyone again for those and their permission. No wonder people are reluctant to be references - they don't want all their personal info out there. I am sure this is data collecting that is making someone some money somewhere. And, that is why we get so many spam emails.
