My MIL was a fastidious housekeeper but in her later years she slipped a little and one year never took down her Christmas wreath. That year, she had to have home health care, and the person who came to visit her refused to come in when she saw the wreath. She was Jamaican and it was something about bad spirits being in the house because of the dead wreath. (Maybe the Jamaican version of feng shui?).

LOL, yes bad spirits or bad feng shui or something. Whatever it is, it's BAD!

Gee, I'm actually in a good mood this morning at 7:40am, but I'm already annoyed by an ungrammatical meme on Facebook that reads:

"The greatest prison people live in, is the fear of what other people think"

Come on people! Learn how to puncuate!

I now return to my daily coffee.

ETA: Maybe I'm not in such a good mood. DH, who has recently experienced a surge of good health, has been like the energizer bunny for a few weeks now and at the moment he's mowing our lawn and the lawns of our neighbors at 7:45, disrupting my (and probably others') peaceful Saturday morning. Gee whiz!

Well I'm glad he's feeling better and out there mowing everyone's lawn!
I am always marking that particular grammar error on papers. I feel your pain.

I bought two really attractive plants yesterday at a local garden center that I intended to keep for house plants. I googled the names while I was there, and they were apparently both safe for cats. Delved a little further once I got home, and the plants were labeled incorrectly and are very toxic to cats. So I will use them outside during the warm months and then find them a home with a non-cat household before winter. We were also looking for Firecracker Plant (Cuphea). An employee asked if I was looking for something in particular, so I told her what I wanted. She asked another employee, and they seemed a bit dubious since they hadn't heard of it, like I must be making it up or something. They asked a senior employee (might have been the owner). He was kind of a sourpuss and he said "I know we don't have that." They actually did have it; my DH found it. This is a small local garden center we were trying to help support, but I was not too impressed with the experience.

The flower show ladies are creating a virtual flowers show with entries being photographs. Someone is insisting on printing out each photo and filing it away in her paper folders. Why? I ask. ‘Because’ she answers.

But because this printing person enjoys conflict, as a head honcho with some authority in the game, i just assured others on our committee “let her spend her own time/paper/colored ink printing out entries. There is no purpose behind her actions, but whatever.”

But now comes the stupid part: the printing person is complaining because some of the photos take up 3-4 sheets of paper and she wants to return those entries to exhibitors and have them re-submitted in another format that takes up less paper.

    AYE, CARUMBA!

We have already specified the process for submitting and using photos and that specification does NOT support printing on paper.

This strikes such a chord with me because it is a circa 1985 action reminding me of the PAINFUL transition from paper to digital, when I supervised ladies like the print fiend who wanted to, essentially, print out the internet. Made me crazy then, makes me crazy now.

Too many of these volunteer jobs are reminding me of the days of work and that is NOT a place Where I want my head.

So since my bank took away telephone banking I tried to set up online banking. It took several tries due to technical difficulties on their end. Then I got to terms and conditions and they wanted me to agree that if any malware or spyware gets on my computer and wipes out my entire retirement savings I am responsible. Now I do have anti-virus software but I think a smart enough person could circumvent it. Hackers knocked out gas to the entire southeastern US. Why would I ever agree to such a thing? I clicked decline and I guess my option is to call the customer service reps every day and ask them to verify my balance which is a hassle because of all the security questions I have to go through. And this is supposed to be progress?

Most of my commute is on winding roads, one lane each way with the occasional turn late. Speed limit is 55. A delivery truck for a local business was going 30 for most of the way I was behind him, for about 7-8 miles. There was a VERY long line of cars behind me (I was two cars behind this truck). When stopped at a light at an intersection, where I turn off this road, I took a photo of the back of the truck, showing truck number, business name, and phone number. I see the driver has his white Apple earbuds in at least his left ear. He's laughing and carrying on. I'm calling the business tomorrow and reporting his butt. There is absolutely no reason to go 25 mph BELOW the speed limit, especially when you're holding up traffic like he was.
