    The randomness of my husband

I always find it funny how some things my husband never notices and other things that seems so minute get noticed. Case in point, this weekend I knocked off two things from my to do list and didn't tell my husband I was doing either. One was painting the inside of the fireplace. The other was pruning a tree located at the end of our property. You'd think he would notice the fireplace since it's in the house and he sees it every day. Nope. He noticed the tree outside and still hasn't noticed the fireplace. Even with the smell of paint in the house for about an hour, he never asked why. Also, it's been a few days since I decluttered a floor lamp and he hasn't noticed. When he's not at work or eating dinner, he is downstairs and passes the spot where the lamp was constantly. Still clueless. He seems to notice the smallest things but not the more impactful stuff. I just have to shake my head sometimes.

Anyone else have a spouse or significant other that is like this?

I've been trying to think of specific examples, but, yes, DH sometimes will say things like, "Hey, nice lamp!" (or something like it), and I'll say, "We brought it from New Jersey. It's been in that spot for 8 years." Then we'll argue... "no, it hasn't!" "yes, it has!" for a while until we get bored.

I'm not that observant sometimes, either, but...

The day before yesterday, during my bi-weekly self haircut, I decided to shave my face for the first time since I retired 7 years ago. It was mid-evening, after dinner and I then joined my wife in the family room to watch a movie. Afterwards, we went to bed and after a good night kiss we both slept peacefully. The next morning I was up first and was sitting quietly on the deck having my morning coffee and a cheap cigar. When I came in she was up and sitting in her recliner having a breakfast bagel. As I greeted her with my standard "Good Morning Sunshine" she gasped, "YOU SHAVED!".

That's funny, Alan, but I can see myself not noticing something like that. LOL.

I can also be just as unobservant about things, but dh is a bit worse than I am - I believe. LOL.

ha! DH usually has a beard anymore, but sometimes doesn’t, it comes and goes. There are times where he will shave and all all of a sudden I notice and he claims to have done it days ago. But he’s lying just to mess with my head. It really means he just did it that morning. I think. Never really know!
