I ended up getting a deal for $33 a month for 26 months, saving me $12 a month. It doesn't lock you in, it's just a reduced rate from a holiday sale.

I have Mint. I won't push since you've said No Mint, but will say that for $200 *a year* including all fees, they're adequate for my needs, which aren't much. I don't have "horror stories" but I'll admit, sometimes you get what you pay for (or not).
We also have Minternet, $30 a month out the door for home internet service which has been equally reliable and fast as our AT&T fiber optic, but half the price. Customer service is abysmal, though. I asked for live chat. The Bot said, "No Problemo." Literally, no problemo. Then it asked "do you want live chat?" I typed yes. It responded, "Sorry, I didn't understand." Problemo!
We are stuck with AT&T servicedue to the extreme hills and valleys of our little town. something about only AT&T could penetrate the depths around here.
I remember when we wanted to make an offer on our Hermann house, we had a different carrier and we were not able to reach the local real estate agent to make an offer on the house. And we were sitting in Herman! Very frustrating.
