Or, people can, you know, just mail their ballot with plenty of time for it to be counted.

With my experience with the post office, I’d be more worried about the ballot being mishandled and not getting there I am about the postmark issue.

IMO You are being naive. The election laws have been in place for decades with proven security until the trump regime’s false claims. Repeatedly have there been investigationS proving such and STILL money and time is being spent on something that is OVER! he lost and someone else ran the country. Get over it! The postmark issue IS a big deal because there LITERALLY could be piles of mail sitting around for who knows how long? The impact on a variety of issues is immeasurable! The most pressing IMO are the coming elections. trump, himself said, if he loses he will go to jail. That is his impetus to do anything in his power to impede a true election! Look around the country now and see people uprising and protesting in unbelievable numbers. The polls are the worst I have ever seen for a president!

My county has drop off boxes for ballots everywhere. You can still mail them in, but if you go practically anywhere there will be a drop off ballot box. I have the impression that trump wants the old fashioned vote in person on election day, but suspect he is on some sort of election reform bandwagon. With delays in postmarks, I wonder how that will go for people waiting to the last minute to mail in tax documents.

According to the local news the national strike day, no work, no school, no shopping was popular here. A number of school districts closed for the day and there were photos of rallys and closed businesses.

of course not. ICE has been present in the St. Louis region for months. We know where their headquarters are, in the old federal building next to the big post office on Market Street.

Chatgpt says IC?e has been in our region for 22 years!!! Shocker I know.

    from chatgpt
How long ICE has been in St. Louis

    • ICE (or its predecessors within the Department of Homeland Security like the Immigration and Naturalization Service and early ICE field offices) has had a presence in major U.S. cities like St. Louis for many years — essentially since the agency was established in 2003 and certainly throughout the 2010s and 2020s. That presence (field offices, enforcement operations, detention contracts, etc.) is longstanding in the region.
    • Historical enforcement actions show ICE operating in the St. Louis area at least as far back as the 2000s (for example, a 2016 multi-state enforcement operation included arrests in the St. Louis area).

Frugal, let's hope ICE doesn't act in Ohio and St. Louis like they have acted in Minneapolis and in Maine. If they do, then citizens will be have their Constitutional rights taken away from them.
