I guess I'd want to know what kind of funding he would influence.

ETA: OK, so I looked up his position on the environment, and I completely agree with him that chasing a number (carbon PPM) is not the right mission. I agree that we need to tackle health and poverty. I disagree with him on the degree to which we should rely on technology to solve ecological problems. I think true solutions have to be more systemic than more technology.

One can quibble about Gates or ppm CO2 but climate change is part of trump's cancel culture. He's threatened to shut down the large NOAA facility that monitors climate and weather in Boulder and he has renamed NREL, the national renewable energy lab to the National Lab of the Rockies. This week was the second round of layoffs there and estimates are maybe a third of their work force will be laid off. I suspect part of it is his revenge tour of the blue states. What you don't know can't hurt you? And that's just locally.

As a young person learning the ways of the world I was told that if you swallow your gum it would eventually form a large ball in the stomach that would never dissolve. And, that toothpaste had a small amount of a toxin so you needed to rinse after brushing. Story was that German POWs saved up their toothpaste ration and used it all at once to poison themselves.

I heard about gum thing but not the German POWs toothpaste story. There was a German POW camp in SC near Savannah and my dad told me that during the War, they went on a hunger strike because they objected to the white bread that was served; they wanted the rich whole wheat bread of Germany and said the South Carolinians were trying to starve them. They also used to play soccer in Beaufort on the public square, a team of locals vs a team of German POWS.

The Colorado State Forest has buildings you can rent that were used to house German POWs. I've stayed in one during the winter for X-country skiing and they are uninsulated and very cold even with a small wood stove and no power.

I no longer rinse after brushing my teeth. There were also some limits on how close you could get to the TV before going blind. It seems like 6 feet. I'm still on the fringe of thinking cell phones routinely held close to the ear cause brain cancer. A little less so with transmission towers.

If you vacuum one spot on the rug too long, the vacuum cleaner will ignite.

My husband's dad also told him the vacuum one, so it wasn't just my parents.

One of my favorites.... Never date a man who wears a metal watch band.
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!
